LIVE vs. BETA
Seriously, do these developers have any idea of the difference between "BETA" and "LIVE"?
This game has received more major basic algorithm and mechanics changes since going live than it ever did during beta testing.
What if you were playing Halo, and mid-game suddenly amo drops changed to 1/24th of what they were last night because the developers decided to change how the game works AFTER YOU BOUGHT IT? I think you'd take the game back and demand a refund.
Algorithm and mechanics changes are what BETA stage development is for, and they would be expected in such a case, but when you tell me the game is "Live" I expect NO changes to mechanics whatsoever without a new, PRE-ANNOUNCED revision release.
The playing field is the same for everyone, so whatever strategies are available shouldn't be allowed to bother anyone because if someone else can do it so can you and I. Making mods mid-game will only and ALWAYS give one player a distinct advantage over another as some have exploited certain possibilities before others had the chance. Leaving things alone ensures a level playing field for everyone, even if some don't like the way things are.
A company who's goal seems to be to ensure that its customers are constantly submerged in frustration is not a company that will maintain a large, paying customer base for the long term. Massive, constant turnover will defeat all your income growth projections.
If you wish to maintain a loyal, solid core customer base:
REVISIONS NEED TO BE PRE-ANNOUNCED AND PART OF A NEW RELEASE. They should also ONLY be applied to NEW servers as they are released so players (read: customers) can have a choice to opt-in or not, and should NEVER be applied to an existing group mid-game without a PRE-ANNOUNCED server reset with plenty of advanced notice.
The best thing you could do right now to save face with your customers is put it back how it was 24 hrs. ago, make an announcement and make the above paragraph your new policy.
