Interesting insight, Rodri. I'd think Sylvester McCoy was older than Colin Baker, and perhaps that Pertwee was older than Troughton - but in general, that is the trend. Curiously, it's not been until very recently that an angle of romantic tension was added to the plot. One wonders if those might be connected.

I'm a fan of Tennant as the Doctor (though I've seen and liked him in a few other things) and I did greatly enjoy Eccleston's run - first truly original take on The Doctor as a character in many many years, celery stalks notwithstanding. My favorite is Tom Baker; despite a severe handicap in terms of both writing and special effects, his character's perpetual nonchalance and eccentricity made him truly glorious.

I've not yet met this new Doctor, but I've every hope that he's as good - and as original.

Now, the question: Would you willingly travel with The Doctor?

Yeah; I'm not so sure that I would. It would be a blast... but how would I feed my troops?

That's rather appropriate, when one considers the nature of The Doctor. Consider them "regenerations"; there's a good chap.

I've been thinking back on it... and I figure something horrible happened to a lot of the Companions over the years. I mean, Ian and Barbara came back to be teachers, Susan ended up in a post-apocalyptic Earth, Jaime and Zoe have their memories erased (and so does someone else), and half a dozen to my knowledge die - at least once. One manages to die of extreme old age and then appear on a following episode, doomed to a foreordained future. The fortunate ones are merely abandoned.

So: would I travel with The Doctor? Certainly. But not for long.

No, no, NO, Dylo. Regenerations, not "Necro"!

*sigh* It's like nobody reads anymore.
