    Default Age II: Farmville??

If you want to play Age II like Farmville, yes, you can do that. Or, you can play Age II Commando, Marine or the Special Forces style. Heck, there are many styles to play Age II. I will just explain 2 basic play style concepts. Allow me to explain....

How to play Age II Farmville Style:
Say you join an alliance and setup all your cities in a nice comfortable area, surrounded by allies and friends, not an enemy for 50 miles. All of you chat, laugh, joke, farm some NPC's and build up troops just in case someone "dares" to attack you. Nobody takes your valleys or even comes close because it is your territory. The you try to take a historical with some friends and the historical is in the middle of your safe haven. Oh oh, wait, and guess what? You can colonize weaker players, Woohoo!! And if they dare to uprise on you then your alliance will help you surpress the weaker player. Awesome!! Sonds like some real challenging game play.... NOT. Sounds just like Farmville or Leave it to Beaver. THAT is playing Age II Farmville style.

How to play Age II Commando/Warmonger style...
You join a server that is already 4 months old. All of the Historical Heros are already taken. All of the flats around the good historicals are taken. Hmmmm.... looks like it's gonna be a challenge to capture some of those Historical Heros from some enemies as well as capture and hold some historical cities. So you decide on a long term goal to work with your team to take a particular state capital or Atlantis at 0,0 and get 10 Historical Heros from Alliance x, y or z. So what you do is setup your cities deep in enemy territory to establish a base. The enemy jumps all over you, but it's ok because you can hold your cities and protect your troops. Your team slowly build up troops, enough to start capturing some level 10 cities and get your King/Queen. Then your team starts to win some battles and you capture a few of the enemies Historical Heros. The enemy starts to lose it's power in the area as you kill off its troops. Then you capture the enemies prized Historical City from a range of 10, 15, 20 miles out with your alliance and kill off every troop they had in it. Then you hold it and keep killing every wave they send to it to desperately get it back. It took you 6 months, maybe even 1 year to do it. Almost like real time war. And there was never a boring moment.

The point is, the game is what you make it. How you play it determines if it is boring for you. Some people are just thrilled and really enjoy being in a safe haven. If that is what they like, fantastic. Great that Age II can cater to them. Then others, like myself, prefer to be aggressive and stir stuff up. Invade enemy territory, let them jump on me. Then slowly build up and start taking over like the black plague. But hey, that's just me. Age II can be played a number of styles and no style of play is "wrong". But what Is wrong is complaining that you don't like it when you never make the effort to take on a real challenge.

I like your spirit... I think your plan has some holes in it and it involves too many "what-ifs" to work... but I will ponder this a while. Obvoiusly you have not proved your idea yet...not enough time for that yet. Still... I like your spirit.

Age 1 requires major effort and is a challenge already. The time commitment for Age 1 is already great... I cannot find a team that would spend 1 year of their life to try out your idea... jeez. I wont.

BUT!!!!, if you are going to play a game, play it right. Age1 is the only Evony War game, PERIOD!!

Age2 is a sissy boy, Whaa!! my city was attacked while I was offline. EVONY HELP ME!!!

Age2 is a whinner, MEEHHH! I have to farm npcs so I can keep my hugh army.

Age2 is backwards, a Hero having an exp cap, can only hit someone every 8 hours. Colonization?

Way to make a life like strategy game folks.
You calling me a girl? I know of a lot of very good girl players who would destroy you for saying a sexist remark like that.

You calling me a sissy boy? I know of gay players who would destroy you for saying that.

No room for that sort of thing in public forums. So don't go there.

Now the fact is most the arrogant age I players who say these things say it only due to the fact their tiny little pea brains aren't smart enough to adapt to a different form of strategy than age I.

Fact is age II offers far more options for strategy than age I...including for hyper agressive players. Japan named 2 but there are far far more than what he named. It is the tip of the iceburg. Once Evony adds the attack button (in whatever form) there will be no contest.

The only strategy AGE I is superior at doing is forcing people to quit playing evony forever..including very good players. That "hard core" attitude may make your enormous ego inflate even more...but it doesn't do either Evony or you any good in the long run. Just look at the ton of players waiting for 144 because they were destroyed on other servers and want to try again! Even joining the relatively new 143 isnt good enough! These players know the game yet still have little to no chance on a relatively new server. How many totally new customers stand a chance?

I will be the first to say age II needs an attack button. I have pressed for it since day one. My very first post in these forums was a very harsh critique of the missing PVP attack button.

I almost quit...I refused to spend any more than 5 $ ....... I made many many suggestions on how it possibly could be instituted.....but I stuck it out for two reasons

    ONE:
The attack button will be added eventually in some form.

    TWO:
There is far more to age II than meets the eye at surface.

The more you look, the more possible strategies you can find. AND THAT'S WITHOUT THE ATTACK BUTTON!!!
Once they add the attack button, will be a no brainer. It is that superior.

Yeah, my plan has holes in it, lots of them. But I am patching them up as I go along. The good thing about Age II is that you can develop a number of strategic play styles and execute them on your time table. So yeah, it may take a year to carry out one plan or one of your various strategies. But you can work on it for 1hr per day, 8 hrs per day or 1 hr per week. So you can develop a strategy that fits the amount of time you have to put into the game.... and still succeed in executing it.

Well said Reddbaron. But the attack/conquer option is a very sensitive topic. I am not against Evony bringing in an attack/conquer option into Age II. So long as players have attack/conquer as an OPTION and not something forced upon them. For example "If your city is colonized for over "x" days then it can be conquered." That would be having conquer forced upon them. Some players like myself like to use colonized cities as part of my long term strategy. If I decided to switch strategies and wanted to actually conquer an enemy city then I would want the option to do that IF the other player agreed to fight me in Conquest mode.
I mean, what if a player sets his city up near 0,0 and that player needs 10 months to build up to try and take it? Hey, first come first serve. That player got the spot first. Just because that players city is in a good spot and you want that spot is not enough reason to push Evony into allowing you to conquer that city. The same goes with the Historical Heros. First come first serve. Being able to capture a players city just because it has been colonized for "x" time and is by 0,0 is not fair at all. That would be the same as telling a player, "The Historical Hero you captured will no longer be yours if you don't use it at least once every 30 days."
In Age II, some things are first come first serve.

Option 1 Farmville sounds more realistic and a lot less time consuming
for those that work 40hr+ work weeks!

We're also adding options so you can also play it Force Recon, Pararescue Jumper, Green Beret and Navy SEAL style.
