Thread: Rule changes

  1. #1

    Default Rule changes

It would be nice to play in a game that didn't change rules so often.

More precisely, if there was a thought to how the game was balanced, BEFORE YOU START 8 SERVERS OF GAMERS, that would be good.

First it was medal getting and scout spamming, and now the npc rewrite.
Not to mention the silly combat algorithm.

Maybe it'll be worth playing in a year when they figure out what the rules are.

Again, it's all about the exploits. There is more to a game than finding ways to break it. Like, say, oh I don't know, having fun.

Please don't assume Wow and all those other games sprung from the minds of their creators fully formed. Every game has flaws starting out, and Evony is no exception. The admins and devs are working to balance the game correctly, to suit the massive amount of players required in a live setting. Also, if I'm right Tribal Wars and Travian constantly make game corrections whenever they start a new server, so the fact that Evony is doing it to all the servers just goes to show how much more serious they are about getting it right.

NO. It shows that they are interested in volume, not about how the game shud be.

This should have been worked on during Beta.

    Default That is not correct.

I am a long time Tribal Wars player, and they NEVER made major changes to the economy, rules, units, etc... During play. Want to know when they did make them? When they created a new world, which is correct. That's how you make changes, not during the middle of play!

This isn't going away, I'm going to ask my Alliance to petition the dev group in mass. You should all encourage your alliances to do the same until this is corrected.

WORK YOUR BUGS OUT ON NEW WORLDS! FIX THIS FOR OLD ONES!!!

You have some people who have multi-medals from the scout spamming days.
Now you have some with ungodly amounts of gold/food etc from the NPC farming days.

    Mostly, its the same people.

How are you ever going to have a "balanced" and "fair" game in that environment?

Hate to say it but it's true.

You don't make changes during game play.

    Nobody else does this..

Even more problematic than this is the fact that they choose to destroy all 8 servers at once, instead of testing ideas on one server and then expanding after the changes have been ironed out.

Apparently these fools never had to take any civics/government classes about incrementalism and how it's beneficial to development.

This change flies right in the face of the Law of Unintended Consequences. I can think of a few already:
    1) It rewards insomniacs and anyone who happens to be online right after a server crash. People are going to be cheering server crashes now. GG.
    2) Medal drop rate is proportionate to resource regen status. Bye bye any sort of decent advancement until they fix that.
    3) The game just slowed way down. To make money we get to go back to micro-managing tax rate and disaster relief. Yuck.
    4) The gap between the haves and the have-nots on older servers is now epic which means those servers will slowly empty and die off as established players make life a living hell for any new player to come out of protection since that will be a much more viable source of farming.
    5) Farming barbarians helped with something to do between builds. Now we are going to just have to sit around and wait forever if there is not a war. But wars will be rarer and shorter because it will take longer to build up an army, longer to rebuild after a loss and people will be more encouraged to carebear up to protect their cities.

If they don't roll this back fast to something more reasonable it will be an epic fail and they will lose a ton of players.

They didn't test it on 1 server, because they dont understand testing procedures.

That bodes ill for the future. But it's not that surprising.

Do they have backups of the game?
Are there in-game GM's to handles problems?

I think we know the answers.
