I can support 4 times that without ever hitting an NPC town with 7 cities... More really, but by 4 time sthose numbers I found out how to attack lvl 10's and started taking advantage of the side effect (no losses).

you call it an unintended game bug, I call it the result of the obvious balance they created in the game (which for ages has been whoever hits first has a large chance of killing the enemy without any real loss given enough units). We did this early on hitting low lvl valleys with archers up until enemy archers factored in (which early on evened things out)... That it happens again with a unit that could just as well be reffered to as a 'slow combined archer unit' should not be a surprise to anyone...

How are you supposed to win the game if you cant create NPC cities blocking flats for new players?

I am not asking to get rid of the creation of NPC cities completely, but there must be restrictions.

    For example:
    1. The NPC city gives you a random level instead of based on the level of the flat.
    2. Put a limit on how many NPC cities you can create within a certain period of time. Say once a week for example?
    3. The NPC has a chance of being teleported away after each server maintanance.

These are just a few examples on how to limit the NPC farming abuses...

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Personally, I already see the game is unbalanced as far as field space goes. In Travian, every given map view may have like five valleys in it, and the rest is space for towns. The world map is FAR too heavily populated by valleys. Why not cut the number down? If it was cut even to 1/3rd of what it is, and those spaces made into flats, not only would there be less trouble to create new cities, and new NPCs, but it'd make ownership of a valley something that's actually important, and something you actually protect.

As for NPC farming... a way they could partly fix the farming and the space taken up, and make all of us much happier when we want to build towns, is make it so barbarians only stay in place for X period of time. Realistically, they're barbarians. They shack up in old abandoned towns, and they move on after a while. They're nomadic. Make them stay in a town that's been abandoned or teleported for 3, 5, or 7 days, and then the barbarian city should turn back into a flat. Then if you want it there to farm it, you can remake it, and if not, then it's free for other uses.

im not sure if this is true or not but wasnt the original problem that people were making NPC and raiding them, if they made it so that you couldnt make NPC as easily then we wouldnt have a problem

With all these newbies crying out how it's horrible that we have big armies. Isn't that the point of a game? If everyone was all equal in level after 3 days of playing, would there even be a point in playing. There is no method of advancement, no way or becoming, essentially, better than your fellow player. A game is suppose to have that.

So it takes you 3 days to go from 0 to Archery 10?

The thing is, you just made your own point! The way the game was, everyone, even the littlest people, could farm NPCs. Soon as you got ballista, it only took like 10 to farm level 1s. However, even me with two towns that each have two level 9 barracks, I was able to produce 200 ballista per night. It takes all of a few days to get enough for level 5 towns, and then from there on out it's clickfest. Want it? Click to build it then. Nothing is limited anymore. I guarantee you I could go from no ballista to a few thousand, farming several level 5 or 7 towns, and a huge army in under a week with the old system. That's not fun. People want to be unique, special, powerful. They want to work hard and figure out the best ways to do things, and BE the best, and you can't be the best when all it takes to be the best is a few clicks a day because all the limitations are removed.

It's not that the little players are mad that the big players have huge armies. It's the big players all mad because the toys they got too easily are being taken away and now they're going to actually have to work for them.

What work are you talking about? With the food income/upkeep set how it is, no one can reach the army levels we have now.
