Wow, a lot of great ones have already been listed. Hmmm... I have to add some weird but good ones like...
    Super Troopers
    Idle Hands
    Children of the Corn
    Dirty Dancing
and The Legend of Billie Jean
Not historic, but all must see movies to me

I've always liked WarGames. I think I have watched it 20 or so times...

I would say a The Hurt Locker, Few Good Men and Men of Honor are excellent must sees if you never saw them.
i would also say Black hawk Down and The Green Mile.

I think people are listing some movies that are good, and possibly even classics, but when I think of must-see movies, I think of movies that define a genre, capture a moment in time, or change people's thinking.

For instance, Tombstone is a great movie and definitely a classic, but its not a must-see. You won't be unable to participate in any office discussions for having missed it and other Westerns don't reference it or borrow from it.

Some must-see movies that haven't been mentioned yet:

The Matrix (1999) - When Neo awakened from the Matrix to discover the real world, movies and movie-goers were forever changed.

Star Wars (1977) - Called Space Cowboys in its foreign release, Star Wars redefined the Sci Fi genre forever. Darth Vader, Han Solo and C3PO remain icons to this day.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - Andy Dufresne's time spent in Shawshank prison with his friend Red is touching and memorable in a way that no other movie has ever really been able to duplicate.

Casablanca (1954) - Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman anchor the best film noire ever made, cementing their place in our minds and this movie as one of the greats.

It's a Wonderful Life (1946) - Jimmy Stewart gives the performance of his life in this feel-good movie about a man who wishes he was never born -- and gets his wish.
