    Default NPC Patch is great!

Originally posted way down in the depths of the Stickied thread, thought the Devs would like to see a thread in Favour of their move.

    I have a large Army.

I'm happy to see 80% of them die from starvation. I got them cheap easy and pretty much free, I didn't have to work hard for them, or even work for them full stop, once NPC farming became known to me they were handed to me on a plate.

Most regular forum readers will know why I support this new patch, Those that don't, check my signature for the reason.

Well done Evony team, it needed to be done.

In response to Gazza's direct proposals:

    1) Re-think about the regenerate time and lower(6-8hours?) or... Or completly remove it.

... or rethink what we think of as large Armies perhaps?

    2) Fix the way, how troops/armys are eating, Its insane...

... see my answer to 1)

    3) Remove the regenate time and set it back to standard and put a hard cap on the amount of resources players can own... 300 - 500m of each resources appears to be fair..

...300-500 mil just suits us as, that's what we have got used to from NPC farming exploit. Use the existing resource capacity caps hinted at through resource tile construction perhaps?

Should we change the game mechanics to compliment exploits discovered,
    or,
Should we change the game mechanics to remove exploit benefits?
Done everything the way the Quests told you it should be but can't see how on earth the top players get their armies and score? This is what's going on

I agree. My only criticism towards the developers at the moment is that they should come clean and announce that the beta stage is still in full effect while they deal with many of the imbalances that are still being put to them by the player base.

Up to this point, I'm very happy that they've shown willing to make necessary changes to game features which are completely imbalanced (Some game companies bury their heads in the sand and hope it all goes away), just would be nice if they informed the player base that drastic alterations to gameplay are expected over the coming weeks/months while they iron out the game breaking issues.

Wholeheartedly agree regarding Beta status, 100% (well, and everything else)

Yeah, they just can't admit it's beta and still get people to pay them

Wait, wait ,wait people...Wasn't it clear from the start,or at least from when Civony went to Evony, that this was still and would remain a work in progress?not to mention a much heralded AGE TWO coming on line soon?As for the NPC patch,I can only say:"ALLELUYAH!"

Every on-line game is a work in progress to a certain degree, with updates ocurring introducing new game content at regular intervals (Depending on the game).

What we are seeing here is major changes to the core gameplay which usually takes place in the beta stages of production. They did announce that the beta stage was over (With rewards given to those who took part) and that with the name change to Evony, the game was at the "Full release" stage.

Despite this criticsm that I have, I am generally impressed with the efforts they've made to alter what has needed to be altered, I just think that more people would be understanding of their situation if they just said that this game was still in beta mode and will remain so until the release of Age 2.

I think the best change would just be to enforce the hard cap on resources; we could leave the barbs the way they are, or were. Make it so once you get to your capacity limit, you can't hold any more. The lvl 10 barbs have a 22m cap which I think is the highest anyone has. If you only have 22m food, you can still have an 10m upkeep army but good lucky going away from the computer for 3 hours.

It'd still be possible to have the massive armies, but it would take a lot of work to maintain them.

It would make it nearly impossible to raise an army large enough to attack a level 10 NPC without massive losses....although I suppose that might be a benefit, for some...only fair that investments should match return. However, in that case, payoff for Lv10 should be raised accordingly.

I don't think cap limits are the answer because cap limits are already in the game. There are also production limits as well as population limts even though population will regenerate over time.

More or less, npc cities are being treated like pc cities now. Once to hit a pc city, their resources are depleted and there is no point in going back for another run until the next day or so when their resources have replenished. Well, the same applies to npc's now. I think this was originally intended.
