Default New Ideas For What To Discuss/Debate

Does anyone have any ideas with which to discuss about in here (as we are no longer allowed to engage in political and religious discussions). I say we talk about society: British & America.

Any new ideas, please post here. Thank you.

The threat of EMP attack, maybe? Or is that too political?

And I'm still yet to see anyone respond to The Good Bribe in "The Pig That Wants to be Eaten" thread...

She said it would only make us cold, and miserable, and sick.

Electro Magnetic Pulse? Is there a threat of that in America. Let me do some research into that and I'll get back to you. Although I don't get how an EMP could cause chaos. Enlighten me?

Well, most devices these days rely at least partly on computer electronics. (Power stations, automobiles, even backup power generators, most household appliances...) An EMP would completely fry the circuitry. No chance of recovering the affected devices. It even travels so quickly as to get through surge protectors or any other failsafe before they could trip. And without power or transportation, bad thing sstart to happen. Most large cities, for example, are only a day away from starvation at any given time. Only regular shipments of food keep that at bay.

(And if your wondering about the automobiles, it's because modern ones have electric spark plugs. Older models, then, would be spared, but how many of those could we really muster?)

On a side note I have just thought of a new topic to discuss. Euthanasia, controversial but an interesting topic to discuss?

Ooh, yes, it would be. I'm so confused about where I stand on it, though...

Hmh, okay I'll kick things off then by saying that, "I believe that places like Sweden (where it is legal) have a good policy on it. It has to be conducted by a doctor and you have to have lots of signatures and go through miles of red tape. I think it entirely resides on the individuals choice. But that leaves the question, What if they can't make up their own mind (i.e. are brain dead/paralyzed)?".

I don't know about that last part, but yeah, the red tape might actually be a good thing otherwise. I've already said before that, without severe regulation, euthanasia could be severely abused.

Anyway, are you going to starta new thread for this? Because I say go for it.

And what about the EMP thing?

We can talk about both, seeing as no one else seems to be interested in what we have to say .
