Satan is spot on about a lot of this guide especially if you are using a level 12. The only thing is the number of waves are far too optomistic. I don't have the reports on me or am putting all that effort in but I have no problem filling in some blanks.

All we used were layered archers and we probably used like 20 waves or more mostly because a bunch of people didn't have godly 500+ attack heroes so didn't take NEARLY as many swords/warriors per wave as you predict there. We also wasted like 5 - 7 waves completely as they only really re-killed layers before getting annihilated by defenders archers.

So, when you supposedly predict you have cleared all of the cavs/swords (or pike), throw like 2 more waves from a different city to ensure they are gone... and then on following waves LAYER THEM LIKE CRAZY in order for your archers to even take shots at defending archers. What I mean is 1k war/worker/pike/sword/ram/ballista/trans/cat (if you have cats) for at least 3 waves to ensure elimination of opposing archers (most will be cleared in 2 waves but a few will be left). After just use warrior elimination waves as you planned. I would have to say at least 15 waves (the 8-9 you mentioned plus some from another city without HHs to finish off to take one just for insurance purposes for a first try. Obviously more if you aren't using 12s or have the HHs to back up those waves.

You can try it the way you have it there if you have the heroes just add several more layers to your archer elimination waves if you want any of the layers to be left by the time you reach the defending archers to get a shot off.

Something else to note (especially if you wanna solo): mechanics own historic cities when it comes to clearing archers... a huge ballista wave properly layered would annihilate all those archers in one shot saving you 3 waves plus eliminating many of the warrirors. If you don't want to lose that mechanic wave just use it for your last warrior wave... it will take out over a million warriors easily with minimum loses once defending archers are dead (remember the heavy layers i talked about to absorb warrior attacks).

Rams are also a good idea but most people don't want to spend the month or so it takes to make 100k rams and then try to feed them when people aren't able to create the npc farms they used to have on age 1. In half that time you can make over a million archers and it costs you a lot less to feed them.

Also pikes are very useful if you want to save some archers, especially if you are going at it when it is phract day.

Last thing. Never attack a 14 when it is on pult/ballista day... your loses go up so much that it isn't even worth it.

If you wanna chat about it just send me a pm.

Once I got to your 2nd paragraph and read "we layered everything" I automatically knew what happened. Once you clear the Cavalry, you MUST send naked Archers or else you will hit swordsmen all the way through, and you won't achieve tradefire with opposing Archers which makes the rest of your waves fail.
Also supposed layering with Pults, Rams, Ballistae, and traporters do absolutely nothing. They literally have no effect.
Another thing I'll add, do not use mechanics on a HC unless it is the last wave your sending, and your sure no melee troops will reach your mechs. Why? Because Ballistae alone are 10x more time consuming to build than Archers. So if you use a mech wave(let's say 125k Ballistae), then you will have lost the equivalent of 1.25 million Archers, and let me tell you that 1.25million Archers will do a hell of a lot more damage than 125k Ballistae.
