PEACE
I'd recommend disabling your McAfee and giving a shot at some other program as a safeguard. AVG anti-virus is free, and TrendMicro's housecall are both decent and will find things that McAfee misses. If a scan by them doesn't show any problems on your computer, leave AVG or another different AV program running when you load up and play Evony. I'd be interested to know what it finds.
No I don't know what you mean, since I have never visited ANY outside Evony related websites except Evony on wikipedia. (which is supposedly approved) I dont use proxy's, bots, Macros, scripts or IP hiding software. 100% unadulterated Windows Internet Explorer.
Yet starting a couple weeks ago something changed that makes Evony hang up when logging on. In my case, all I do is refresh the page and it works...but there are several posts about this in forums, some more severe, so I dont think it is isolated.
What the OP is describing happened to me just now when I installed McAfee Site Advisor...
Visting the main evony.com page is fine.
Logging in gives a balloon about a download.
Trying to get NA1 to load was a no-go, as there were "balloons" aplenty and 11 IE "windows" listed down on my start bar, although the only one that could be accessed was where it was stuck with the spinning globe.
Edit: Further testing shows all these balloons happen in IE, but not Firefox. I have other plugins in Firefox, including Firebug, that might be interfering though...
If that's the problematic software, just add Evony into the safe site list.

best advice ever, mcafee is not worth your time to download IMO, AVG or Avast for free antivirus.
If you think you have a problem(virus/malware/spyware) on top of AVG or Avast get malwarebytes, spybot S&D and Prevx. those 3 will remove about anything on your PC.
As a note, use Prevx only if the others do not fix the problem first. It is a great program for finding stuff but is very resource heavy if you leave it installed and running. A combo of AVG malwarebyte and spybot is more then enough to fix most problems.
... if i could give negative points i would for this comment, having no idea whats being downloaded and being given a warning means something requires attention, if i should just ignore all warnings why have protection to begin with? I dont mean to be rude or disrespectful but please thing before posting, i understand evony most likly isnt trying to fry my pc, as that would be bad for buisness, however if there is any threat you never ever every just lay back and accept it.
Face the wrath of my wall of text!
I honestly feel so bad for forcing people to read my wall of text that i put it in my sig.... no i wont use the enter key, or the tab key for that matter.
yeah i know what you mean. Alot of those sites are made to steal your info, trust me im not new to online gaming, ive played on many many many games and have seen many attempts at account stealing, most of which include going to some site to gain some unfair advantage, or free supplies ect. Thus i avoid such things like the plague, to be safe i actually did run a full virus scan with Spybot S&D which is a anti spy,ad,mal-ware program, and a full scan with mcafee and it says i currently have a clean computer. If something is wrong i would know, however as that otherguy said it is possible it could be with your detection software, i know that WOW has a requirement they download a program that sends them constant data of your computers functionality if you wish to participate in any betas, so for other games to try and do this to be sure of no multi acting or cheating isnt far out there.
P.S. excuse the doublepost im just trying to reply to the comments as there are alot now lol.

I have Mcafee because my bank was allowing for free 1year download membership of it since i used the bank, and im a sucker for free things =P, but i do agree on spybot, ive used it along with mcafee for about 8 months now and have never had a virus, been warned of em, but never had one.
I have heard great things of AVG, ill try it out and post what i find, and thank you neko_lord for at least confirming my claim, it is the site advisor that is poping up for me as well.

No problem. When you mentioned McAfee and balloon popups, I took about 5 minutes and went to the SiteAdvisor page to research its' behavior, downloaded it, installed it, and voilla!
The things to ask are:
Did you just recently install SiteAdvisor, either on its' own or through an update to another McAfee product?
Was there an update to SiteAdvisor that was downloaded and installed over the past few days?
Good luck Verinium, and please do let us know what turns up when you switch AV programs.
