Otherwise Colonization is absolutely pointless. The options should be Colonize OR Plunder.
Good post, +rep, wait for it wait for it...one day the plunder option will come.

What form it will have? I dont know.....but they are working on it.

Personally I am very happy to wait and give them all the time they need...hopefully so the mechanic is well balanced and bug free as possible. It is crutial that they get it right.

Your strategy for colonies also has counters, Like I said there are a MULTITUDE of options in Age II for outside the box thinking. Thats why I love it.

Yeah i'v been saying colonizing city's is dumb for months, the tribute will nvr pay for the cost to conquer, and supress, only thing thats worth fighting for IMHO is the historical city's.

See that is where I think many people have it wrong. Colonizing isnt dumb at all. Colonizing is GREAT!

Dumb colonizing is dumb. Smart colonizing is BRILLIANT!!!!

Working from a colonized position? Colonizing? Mixture of both? Not colonizing but not being colonized either? Partially colonized but not at every city? Colonizing others from one city but being colonized at another?

There is a MULTITUDE of options, strategies, counter strategies, and counter counter strategies.

If you want to be a Suz, then fine, but it isnt just build a bunch of troops and use brute force and ignorance. You still got to play SMART! Don't fight dumb battles. Determine if the gain is worth the losses. There are situations where losses can be high, yet still worth it. There are other situations where losses will likely make colonization foolish.

I think not even a 10TH of the possibilities in Age II have even been thought of yet, much less tried or experimented with.

    Huh?

bottem line is, unless the colony is inactive the tribute will nvr pay for uprising colony's, it's pretty simple to see that even when you win a supression battle by alot, the losses in forces you have to replace in time, and money will nvr be covered by the tribute. This is why it's pointless to own a colony that uprises, unless you don't like the guy or something, b/c no question the person playing from the colonized position has it worse, but having supression battles with someone once a week, or once every two week, even if there won easliy is not really worth the tribute.

Don't get it twisted, I conquer inactives all the time, but I don't colonize active players even if I can easily do it, b/c it doesn't help me to colonize them, in the long run the tribute will nvr pay for the troops lost attacking said player, or the losses you will take in the uprises that will surly follow.

When you win a battle, and gain a new colony, your not winning anything other then a new battle down the road, sure you may win, and he may lose more troops then you, but in the end, had you not colonized him to begin with you would have more to show for yourself. I know this b/c I stopped colonizing active players along time ago, and its very noticable.

Should be fun hiding them if your playing from a colonized position, hope you like being online 24/7...... wait a sec... isn't age2 a "real life peoples" game? Not sure where I heard that.....
No need for me to be online 24x7. I have soultions in place that protect my good heros almost 100% form being captured. Note, almost 100%.

Well, you cannot do that with the way I play. My walls are empty. And my gates are always closed. Which means you cant kill or destroy anything. It also means that I use you more than you use me. Because as my Suzerain, you protect me while I build. So if you tried to colonize me this is what would happen:
    Attack starts
No defenses wiped because defenses are at 0
Gates closed so no troops die.
    Suppression ends
I begin paying you a small tribute to keep others from attacking me. Worth the price.
I protect my troops from drafting.
Now, someone attacks me, they actually fight you, not me.

No more brute force and ignorance...instead there are ways to play that are completely "outside the box" of traditional Evony strategy...if you are smart enough to figure out what works for you.

Good luck, but don't be surprised if your Suz ups his game and tries to figure out a new strategy that counters yours.

I think this is just the beginning of a whole list of new strategies that are possible on age II.

Personally I don't like playing from a colonized position, but I have seen the possibilities.

Thanks Red. Yeah, I'll need to see what happens next. But that is what makes the game interesting. Age II is not boring at all, not in the least bit.

Do we need to have the HH portrait before we can capture the HH from the defeated player?

I don't know. But I bought all the the portraits of the HH's that my Suzerain had just to be safe.
