So I'm in the supermarket, groping away at the avocados to try to find one that's ready to use without being too old, y'know. As you do.
Anyway, it was really frustrating. I ended up talking to the produce manager and suggesting that he change the way he places avocados in the store. Basically I suggested that they have a section for avocados that are ready to use, and a section for avocados that will be ready in a few days' time. I mean, that's how they organize their banana section.
The produce manager fixes me with a steely gaze and replies "we find people like to buy avocados of all different ripeness".
So here is my question - do you eat underripe or overripe avocados? Have you ever heard of such a thing? I always assumed avocados were like pork, (good to eat or not) rather than beef (cooked according to taste). Am I wrong?
