    Default Losing Heros is good

    I like how in Age II your hero gets captured if you lose a battle between a player. Some people complain that it is a bug.

    I would not call that a bug. I would call that good design. If you lose a battle to another player, they should capture the hero, period. In real life if a hero leads an attack and losses then that hero gets killed or captured.. Why should that hero return? I say that if you lose, you lose. Why should all your troops get killed in an attack but you get to keep your hero?
    Thus the introduction of the King/Queen uncapturable hero in Age II. If you are worried about losing heros to players, then use your King/Queen. And if you are still worried about losing your precious heros, then make sure you will win the battle. And don't send capturable heros to attack players. Send your king/queen for initial spearhead then send junk heros for additional waves.
    Also, making heros capturable if they lose a battle ensures that HISTORICAL HEROS will get circulated among players. Otherwise, you could just keep the historical heros loyalty at 100% and it will never get it captured, thus never giving other players a chance to capture them.

    Losing your heroes is not a good thing, no matter how you justify it. This game may be based on medieval era, and have facts and accuracy shoved into it. But it is still a game. There are certain historically accurate things that must be sacrificed to ensure this game is fun for the people who play it. Losing your best heroes, that you spent weeks and months, and money obtaining, is not what people would call fun. It is devastating to those that have experienced it. These heroes are the pride of their accounts, and without them they will lose the will to keep playing.

    I have lost about 5 good normal heroes (68-69 base, level 60-90) and I do not mind at all. Losing a Historical Hero will hurt, but it works both ways, you can also capture them.

    The only thing I don't get, is Hero Loyalty. If heroes are meant to be captured on every lost attack, then loyalty does not serve a purpose anymore.

    I agree that loyalty shouldn't be pointless anymore.

    I don't agree that it should be a 100% capture rate. TCW hit the nail on the head. People are investing real-life money in this game. In Age2, most of that is going to be for heroes. Yes, equipment/stars apply to ALL heroes, so losing a hero is not the end of the world necessarily. It also promotes the flow of heroes throughout the server. I just think it should be like 30%. 100% is way too high, especially when reinforcing using camp time (and smart alliance members) is a great way to ensure that the first hit is a loss.

    This will make most people use their Queen when hitting other players. This reduces the general variance that you find between heroes and demotivates people to train their "own" heroes aggressively (meaning anything but the Queen, such as historics).

    lol have any of u actually played age 1? loyalty didnt do crap then either 100 loyalty and u lose a big attack u had about a 75% or higher chance of losing a hero above level 100 but it never seemed like u could lose those crap heros u sent before hand.


    and the same thing atill applys for age 2 as it did for age 1 if u dont want to lose ur hero fill their FH with crap heros sent on an attack with 1 scout

    come on people ur not thinking this losing heroes isnt a new thing

    75% or higher?

    That is still different then what people are reporting in age 2...100% of the time...As far as it being good....in some ways yes some ways no...im fence riding on this one...

    It didn't seem like 75% or higher at 100% loyalty to me.

    in age 1 just about every attack u lost with a good hero at 100 loyalty u lost the hero thts why people never attacked with their best hero and if they did they made sure to fill enemy FH with crap heros so why in age 2 are people to lazy to do this now? if u lose your hero its ur fault maybe u should just do a lil better next time

    Sorry but that just wasn't my personal experience. Your experience apparently differs.

    I still don't think it should be a 100% capture rate.

    Sure, players invest lots of time into heros. Sure, large parts of the game center on heros. But you lose a battle, your hero gets captured, period. I like it.
    And if you lose a battle and your best heros gets captured then you just may GAIN an even better hero by beating a player 2 weeks later. It helps to keeps the heros in circulation.

    Think about this: If you did not have any Historical Heros and joined the server 6 months after it opened... and you built up and beat down a player who attacked you with an awesome Historical Hero but could not capture it because their loyalty was at 100% .. well, I bet $100 you would come full circle and say "I should be able to capture it! I beat him down with a weak hero and kille dall his troops!"
    I say that if you lose the battle, you lose your hero. So if you don't want to lose you best heros, then make sure you don't send them on missions where they have a reasonable chance of losing. There are plenty of things you can do to protect your best heros from getting captured. And if you want to use your best heros to beat up on players, then you should have a VERY HIGH risk of losing them if you lose. No more bullies.
