i am age1 all the way, i am in love with the attack button and i like being able to steal cities and being able to lose cities. it's also good for passing your cities on. not being able to lose a city makes it seem like a sims game to me.
I agree with this. AgeI is a WAR game, as I think Evony is intended to be. AgeII is a game where you don't really have to do to much. you can guy enough food to attack, and you really don't HAVE to have an army, you can just socialize and never worry about losing a city.

its sad that ive seen written evony are neglecting age 1 now that 2 has come out. age 1 is far better so you would hope this isnt entirely true

Once again, this is not the place to ask. The forum is where all the old, seasoned players hang out (and this is most likely going to be Age1 players).

You will have a strong biased opinion here.

age 1 all the way, looked at age2 it looks fancy and graphically superior to age 1 but i prefer the farming, struggling and making an effort to become a great player, it is more of a challenge and entertains me personally. good luck with ur choice of age's.

    Default Age 1

Tried age 2 for a couple of months during testing phase. Loved the 1k cents daily but even that couldnt keep me from playing age 1. Age 1 all the way. Age 1 beats age 2 hands down.

I disagree. The troop levels needed to successfully conquer a historical city (at least 1.2m archers and 2m warriors) require a player to farm substantially to accomplish this. Evony has made it more difficult now to farm w/ the lack of player-built "permanent" NPCs.

Evony should have made player-built NPCs a 'valley' type, and you to keep them (the same way you keep valleys) for purposes of farming -- or, eliminate the farming portion, and instead have player-made NPCs automatically generate rez for the player every 8 hours.

The lack of the ability to farm also greatly hinders someone's ability to build troops (lack of rez) and the inability of players to level up heros past 100 means troops generation times are insanely slow when you start to reach end-game.

(If you're one of the unfortunate ones who start 'late' on a new Age 2 server, forget about getting an HH... most decent HHs are long-gone early on by the top players... one player in my alliance has 25.)

Yes... farming is significantly less on Age 2 than on Age 1, I agree. I can maintain my Age 1 troop strength w/ a single set of farming runs per city each day.

However, the troop generation times make the game outright boring. At least Age 1 was more interesting in this regard, w/ the ability to plunder other players.

I haven't seen that 'feature' on any Age 2 server... I don't see it on NA21, which is the latest server to open... Besides, the evonyclient.swf file is, to the best of my knowledge, the same on every server, so a feature on one server is going to exist on another.

This has not been a problem for most. I think the reason for this is Facebook. The ability to cut upkeep 50%, and for money spenders 100%, allows most players to be able to have several millions of each troop type (not including mechs) with a minimal need to farm. And obviously for those that do spend alot of money, never have to farm ever. It all depends on how organised and efficient each player is.

It has been confirmed as being on NA20, and NA21. I believe the option is only visible either once you have declared on another alliance or player, and to declare on another player, you have to have left BP. Hopefully a battle report should be sufficient proof: battlena21.evony.com/default.html?logfile/20100804/7d/38/7d3889ad9da9d23d120eaa1123ddac13.xml
