I don't beleive the scout would have the same effect. My understanding is the ATs will target the range unit with the largest cum. attack, then the range unit with the next largest cum. attack right down the line.
Next they will target the melee unitwith the largest cum. attack which here would be the cav.
If we included one trap here things would be differet. The scout would get into range of ATs before cav. And the ATs would fire one round at the scout.
The reason scouts have no effect here is becuase the battle starts AT range. So the ATs have both Cav and scouts in range in round 1.
Since ATs have can only target one unit per round they go into their priority targeting loop. First the look for ranges units (they see none in the cav/scout scenerio).
Then they look for melee units and see scout and cav. They then fire at the one with the highest cum. attack which would be the cav.
i see thanks for clearing it up :P
Lol, I dunno, I never tried it with just cav and a scout or cav and 1 archer. Next time I find an inactive with all at's, Ill have to try it out and see what happens.

if there is 1 trap, the scout will camp at 5200 range and do nothing untill all other units are dead.
And yes sending 1 scout along with ur 1 arc/bally/pult doesnt do anything. ATs will target the ranged units before the scouts.
When you just send 99.999 cav + 1 scout, I think the scout actually layers... not 100% sure about this.
I usually send 1 scout along with these kinds of attacks anyway, even when im almost sure it doesnt work. It's only 1 scout anyway =)
What do we know about ranged targeting?
Anyone know why you can layer rams with every other unit type? Any guesses?
Even if there's only 1 of everything else, it'll all take priority over the rams for ranged units, even if you've got 90k rams, you can't mean to tell me 1 swordsman can match the might of 90k rams, can they?
Remember, ranged units do not go for the highest attack unit, but instead, they're more interested in what's going to do the damage first, IE, what will get there first or what doesn't have to get there to lay in with the pain.
That's why a ranged unit will first fire at ATs, then enemy ranged units second(These guys can shoot me, they need to go...)
Then they'll go down the list of what's the fastest (They're going to get to me first, they need to go.)
For those that didn't understand, I'll list it in an easy way to understand, further up the list is higher priority, lower on the list is lower priority.
ATs first
Archer/Pult/Ballista (Strongest of the three)
Archer/Pult/Ballista (Middle strengthed of the three)
Archer/Pult/Ballista (Weakest of the 3)
Scout
Cav
Phract
Pike
Sword
Warrior
Worker
Ram
As you can see, the things that layer cav from ranged units are archers, Pults, ballista and scouts, theoretically ATs as well, but I'd like to see someone attacking with ATs.
I just took out 30k ATs clean with 99999 cav 1 scout, lost 1 scout. Wish I saved it.. damn botters and their free walls.
Can anyone explain this
