Well, if the player who sent the hate mail KNEW the full consequences of playing on Na21 in attack/conquer mode because they did NOT want to play colonize mode on an earlier AgeII server, then they are wrong for sending the hatemail because they knew the consequences. But if the player was from Facebook and did not know or understand the game, then Evony just lost a customer.

No one forces you or anyone else to play evony..
If you (pardon my french) *suck*.. its not our fault anymore...
You shouldn't penalize good players for the inadequacies of lesser ones, or those that don't take the game seriously.
pfft.
I am on na20 and the attack button does make it more fun (at least for me). Most players in my alliance will only colonize somebody who is either a)totally pathetic or b)inactive. We typically colonize just for the achievement buff.
You don't have to spend money to survive at this game. I currently have spent ZERO dollars on coin and am ranked 190 and climbing on my server. As it has been said before if you do the following things:
1) set up your defense correctly
2) have an alliance that is helpful
You can go for a long time without ever losing a city.
So if you make a entertainment water park for people to have fun in you are just going to make the entire pool 12ft deep and tell people who can't swim well to go find another entertainment park? Isn't Evony a game designed to entertain a large audience? Thus Evony needs to cater to more than just hard core players... or "pro" swimmers as it were.

Brilliant! Maybe they should have certain states or levels be "wading pools" and have a shallow and deep end. Move from one to another voluntarily or forced when certain prestige/honor levels reached. That could give a safe haven to the farmville/chat club folks and make the deep end more competitive.
Why do you always make pointless analogy about something totally unrelated to try and make your point.... probably the thing that bothers me the most about your posts on these forums is that you don't say what you mean, but instead say something that is not relevant what-so-ever to try and make a point, I think it goes w/o saying that a themepark, or 6 flags or whatever is for family to go to together, and have fun, now these family have different age ppl in them, and it stands to reason there are kiddy pools, and adult wave pools. Now evony is a war game, and when ppl start playing it they understand this, and it's target audience isn't mom, dad, and the kids....... why on earth I just had to write this i'll never understand, but for some reason you have made me explain this to you, and wasted everyones time, and derailed the topic in doing so.
please don't try and explain why a waterpark has something to do with a browser war game, b/c the truth is i'm really not interested.

There are numerous options to learn how to "swim" in Evony.
1) Read the forums
2) Google Evony fansites
3) Join a helpful alliance
4) Trial & error
People of all skill and income levels have the opportunity to make what they want out of this game. I've seen people spend hundreds of dollars on the game but never really learn how to play it and they leave because they couldn't buy their way to being a skilled player.
Wanting to actually have war in a war game (shocking, isn't it?) isn't just for hardcore players. You can survive and thrive in this game without spending money and without losing your cities every day. It is possible, you just have to take what the game offers and adapt it to your style.
The attack button isn't going to ruin the game for "normal" players. I get on when I can and often go days where all I can manage to do is log on for my amulet and set a few builds. I manage to work Evony time around having a full-time job, a family, and other interests besides gaming.
