Releasing Online Games Too Early
Having read through quite a few pages of players rants and quibbles one thing comes to mind.
I'm sure alot of us have heard other game developers say "The game will be reased when it's ready".
This is a clear example of such a game that was released too early, in what seems like an attempt to make some money before the game was actually ready for release. To try and give a ballanced view point - I agree that the premise and mechanics of the game is very good, and it seems to have gained a large player base very quickly.
Unfortunately, bugs like "the scout spam bug", which should have been looked at and sorted way before this game was ever released, was overlooked. The new "barbarian city nerf", is another clear example of a fix that should have been tested and changed within a BETA setting.
As such, these game changing fixes are impacting largely on the mechanics of the game, and players are getting riled by the lack of communication between the game developers and the player base, and the seemingly illogical fixes that are occuring.
I'm pretty sure that had 24hr regeneration of barb cities been the norm from the start that there wouldn't have been an issue in anyones mind.
This all just cries out that a game was released too early, and game fixes are being carried out on a live server, and not in BETA - very wrong in my opinion. Peoples opinons of game fixes are very different in a BETA setting. I guess it's an important note for anyone thinking of releasing a game before it's been fully tested.

Evony needs to go back into beta status, and close registration.
The current servers ccould continue, but certain users should be selected to join a testing only server, where there would be no ranking and users would be encouraged to only search for things that could be considered exploits.

To be quite honest, you can't expect a game to be perfect when it's released.
There's bound to be at least 1 bug or glitch in game when it's released.
And i'm sure the devs are trying there best fixing the stuff that's wrong.
The game will be fine, just give it a couple of months/weeks.
EDIT for the post above me: If they go back into CB the whole player database would probably be wiped out.
And to be honest, i don't want that.

I completely agree with you Joneh. With every online game I've ever played, tweaks have been made and I think we all understand and agree that games need to be constantly modified. Yes also, I'm sure the game developers are working very hard to correct major issues.
But there lies the key point, all the "major issues" should have been corrected before they went live. The problem is the game IS live, so therefore there needs to be a plan on correcting issues with the least amount of fuss.
I see a positive step forward as being a better communication with the player base, a step that is sorely needed, and I think all would agree with that.
They are trying to play catch up now, and it looks like players are reporting UGME to paypal and are getting money back etc. This is not something any of us want to see, so the developers really need to sit down and make plans regarding better comunications.
