I would guess most people's answer to their "purpose" is selfish for their own benefit. But, that does not preclude the occasional magnanimous person, whose personal "meaning of life" is more benevolent. People like Ghandi, and Martin Luther King Jr. definitely found a purpose in life that was more about uplifting entire nations of peoples.
