    Default Companies that support charity

Would you be more likely to buy products or services from a company that publicly supports charities? Would you be more likely to buy something knowing that part of the proceeds go to charity?
    Why or why not?

I don't take charity contributions into account in most purchases because simply they aren't relevant, and at a certain point all major corps give even if it is just for tax purposes. I look for the best deal and go with that. Now with certain major purchases one may do more research about things, but still id say i'm not alone when looking for the bottom-line rather then who or how much they give to. Another factor is id rather pay less for a product, and personally decide where that extra 5 dollars goes then let a company do it for me (or government for that matter).

Most larger companies do support charities. My company, for instance, works with two charities but does not advertise it. It's good for tax purposes as well when you need to play with numbers, and boosts morale inside the company.

No I never take into consideration for charity. If I want too give to charity I will give it to them myself.

    Just to play devils advocate...

If a company can afford to donate millions to charity, then why can't they just lower the costs to their customers instead? Save me some money, and allow me to choose where I want to put that charitable donation percentage. Maybe I'll donate it somewhere, and maybe I'll just buy more stuff.

The simple fact is that the charitable donations are used for tax write-offs. There is almost always a quid pro quo with the charity that creates some mutual benefit. I know companies like the united way will be more than happy to provide a six figure salary job to the child/spouse of an executive, if that executive's corporation donates a few million dollars.

Most charities sicken me, the more I learn about them. Quite a few do a lot of good, but there are enough "scheme" charities, that I am dissuaded from doing business with companies that boast working with certain charities.

Every company in the U.S. actually gives to charity on a regular basis. Very few actually advertise this. The ones that advertise it are the ones looking for the publicity and higher returns in the long run.

I personally could care less what company gives to what charity. I give to the specific charities that I support from my own pocket.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!
