The lady politician in that video is very impressive. And don't get depressed, local politics is always a horrorshow. I remember our social studies teacher at high school arranging for the local government council to hold a session in school so we could see law being made like sausage. They later issued an official apology for all the swearing and personal attacks we had to sit through.
