A Fair solution i think!
players are complaining about troops dying out and or being farmed by the massive amount of troops so they can keep their armies. Now some of the armies are like over 1 million food an hour gone now this is gunna be the solution. Here are a few options.
1: a cap on how much over your food production you may go. let say u can go in the hole of food production oh maybe 300k food. so u lose 300k food an hour yet the farming of npc's would balance that out still and you would not have a super massive army to try and take out.
2. with each upgrade of your town hall u get a 3 additional tiles to use on resources. maybe up that to additional 4 or 5 per upgrade. would give more food production.
3. With every valley you capture lets say a forest lvl 6 you should get 6 additional tiles on the valley to build lumber yards. but the lumber yards can only get to lvl 6 due to the fact that its a lvl 6 valley.
4. (this has been posted most likely the most) reduce the amount of food eaten by troops. YEs agree some of it does not make sense like ballista eating food! really? can wood eat food? lol but then again wut is needed to push the ballista are troops.
5. also been said a lot is reduce the amount of time it takes for npc's to regain resources. (i for one do not like this idea myself for a barb city should not be faster at producing than a regular player, if this is done u should also make player production faster.)
Really i could go on and on with solutions to this dilemma but im not going to i just felt like adding a few more of my own solution.
