    Hmmm i know of at least 3 people who have 20 or more level 9 barracks
    and at least one who has 30

    think about how much time that took to build all those. they just dont come out of nowhere, unless of course you throw down the $$$$

    Well, I did give Evony money, but it was only $20 bucks, and that was for two advanced city TPs. Moving closer to a friend really doesn't make you build level 9 barracks any faster.

    As for time, With a good Politic hero, building a level 9 barracks only takes about a total of 8 hours. Of course no one sits at their desk for eight hours playing Civony, which means it ends up taking longer, but it isn't hard to pump out 1 every day checking Civony every three hours or so.

    So, if you have seven cities when you decide to go ballista crazy, thats 7 level nines barracks by the end of day one. 14 by day two and so on. Only takes 10 days to have 70.

    And with a high attack hero you can bring the production time of ballista down well under 8 mins.

    I got 90k ballista so far.

    And I never spent any money on anything that would help me produce them.

    And don't listen to those guys who say you can't feed them. The town that army is in has 841 million food, up from 560 million a couple of days ago. It would be more food, but I have started shipping it out in waves because I worry that there is a cap at 999,999,999.

    But, as for your original question, if you are not going to go 'ballista crazy' there is no point in making more then 1k ballista, for farming. Archers are the best unit after Ballista and Catapults. If you have extra barracks time laying around, make 100k pike. Pike are not as good of meat shield as warriors, but sending 20k pike instead of 20k warriors can really speed up attacks.

    A completely functional well balanced city can maintain 15 barracks alone.

    I don't even understand this thread. None of the questions or responses make sense. All units have their place in an army.

    You should have MORE archers than anything else.
    You should also be building towards ballistas. It's not like one is exclusive of the other. At some point you will reach a limit in your troop count where you will have more units than your rally point can handle. When this happens having 100,000 extra archers doesnt help, because they can't go with your force.

    Ballistas are weaker than they were, but you can still farm NPCs with them, and as mentioned eventually they will replace archers in your troop count on large attacks. Planning on never having ballistas is planning for not much of a future.

    I'm starting to find a use with cavs too. They just seem kind of unpredicatable to me. They are great for fast transports, plundering inactives or those with no defenses, and can reinforce in a pinch. Mix them with relief stations and you're getting to your alliance members fast.

    I've had a battle where someone brought an overwhelming force of archers over as well as other units, and the cavs while reinforcing an ally ate them up. And then I've had my cavs get knocked out by almost as many warriors. So I don't quite understand them completely yet.

    Cataphracts on the other hand, I just want to stay away from making. I know honor is just a number, but having a decent amount of catas will almost always ensure you lose the honor bout. They are expensive, slow-to-make, and just don't seem worth it. Probably if you had a 20k cata army you could see their devastation, but if I ever lost that army, omg I'd cry.

    i make 34k ballista a day in 123 barrack lvl 9 , hero atk 265 , max techno

    i make 1 ballista per 5 min
