Vampires are relative to historical accounts involving dracula.
Warewolves are relative to a factual condition known as Lycanthropy.

I dont buy into the whole warewolf thing, underworld was a vamp movie n they put warewolves in it n suddenly all vamp movies must have warewolves, its already been done to death. FYI Im boicotting the new vamp movie "vampires suck", as i find the title insulting to my heritage.

I think it comes down to what horror movie subgenres one prefers. Vampires tend to get a classy cerebral production, where as werewolves get played for fun or for body horror. That's because the werewolf transformation is really an allegory for puberty, and that's something anyone who's been through can fairly describe as humorous and horrifying in equal measure.
