Thread: visual troop battle

  1. #1

    Default visual troop battle

Im currently making a tool to visually represent battles for age 1 and 2

Before people tell me its against rules please read here

    http://bbs.evony.com/showthread.php?t=144161

Now what im wondering is for the final battle statistics does anyone care about the associated cost of lost troops and the ratio of attacker/defender resource loss?

What i mean is if you lose 100 archers and the defender losses 50 you lost

    11,300 barrack seconds
    27,000 food
    31,500 lumber
    27,000 lumber

the defender lost half of what you did so a loss ratio of 2:1 apples

Although in this example its really easy to see your self but when you incorporate all evony units in an actual battle situation it gets to be a decent amount more math.

Does anyone care? Is this information useful to anyone?

    Thanks for your feedback.

Screenshots and progress updates are available here

Just to be clear im not host of the evolliance developer forum, evolliance is, so acess may take a little bit.

    To put it simply no

Evony battles are complex and alot of people run very low screen resolutions.
In its current form its a stand alone exe file as fitting all the required information into a small place is close to impossible.

I cant automate the data aquisition as this would be against evony rules.

The best form of evony integration i could acheive is if i port it to http protocols and evony linked it within the game like any other popup. but everyone would have to crank up the screen resolution. and i just doubt that will ever be happening, if they want to incorperate visual battle reports they will do so im sure.

This may be kind of hard to figure out how long since people use different heroes. But I would like it if you could figure it out

There is a pretty straight forward equation to calculate the troop training time with your listed hero attack, The tool will always only be as good as the data you input

Thats more up to the evony community, i can make it as graphical as people want providing they provide the rendered graphics. However, as long as im master of images/graphics its more likely to be little colored boxes that flash, move and change color to represent whats happening and a text based rundown to clarify anything anyone is unsure about. At the moment theres been no hands up to help with even basic pictures so im figuring the boxes it will be. But the core possessor is the complex part, Graphics can be changed when and were needed.

Theres screenshots of the current GUI's in the evolliance developer forums (Linked Above) and no one has had any ideas or complaints so atm its staying the way it is, Have had an idea on things to include in the core however.

The most important thing i feel for this tool is to show what happens in a battle as accurately as the community can figure, since all mathematics and concepts of battle i have learnt are from forum users, as far as i know evony do not release exact equations, although i have never asked. Maybe i should have :P

I would love to see this turned into a reality
Evocalc is good for seeing what happens in a battle but 5 blue lines and 5 red lines of different lengths battling it out really reduces the excitement of battles
The resource info is not useful for many things but still would make a cool addition to the calc.
Evocalc lacks one thing, the number of traps, abatis, etc etc
It doesn't take into account how many there are therefore making 1 layering possible in evocalc and yet impossible in actual evony if the guy has traps and abatis.
If you do make this plz take into account the defenses other than ats and use some sort of formula to determine if 100 of each layering will survive against 1k traps
Other than that great idea and good luck
