Sales taxes are a tax on almost EVERY retail good. This proportionally taxes the poor more than the rich. Feel free to have a sales tax, but you need to couple it with an increase in capital gains and/or property tax if you want to be fair.

I have no problem with a sales tax. I think they are a great source of income. I'm just sharing the common argument against them.
