sorry it didnt look dead to me
For the Mist; since I haven't seen the other
Well, I believe, they became deluded when the crazed religious woman took lead of most of the group. She began to preach of how it was the end of the world, that it was their own undoing, and how they should pray for forgiveness from God. She took normal thinking people, and brain washed them into thinking her own way. By doing this, the small group that weren't so easily "changed" were hated, some killed because they didn't believe. The woman tried to have her "followers" kill the small group of non-believers, so they wouldn't try and force the group to think straight.
Of course, I could be wrong, and I'll most likely get crap, but, whatever.

[HiAsh]: And 10's don't appeal to you enough?
[SirAshcan]: Too many is overkill
You should watch each of the films. But in both stories the majority of the group, who was normal and reasonable to begin with, allowed their sense of reason to be overshadowed or deluded by a very unreasonable, even twisted, person or persons.
Like if a Cult leader came to your town and started twisting and deluding the minds of the people to the point where most began to agree with the Cult leader. Agreeing that everyone over 40 has been taken over by microscopic alien mind controllers so everyone over 40 must be killed. Then the once normal people begin killing everyone over 40, even those in their own group.
It is hard to answer your question. Because in order to answer it I would need to sumarize both movies... which I am not going to do. So the best thing for you to do is watch them or read a summary of them.

Jack ftw. I would have sided with jacks group they were fed and there needs were provided for were as Piggy's group was starving and the group was dissolving. WHen it comes down to it the peasentry are happy when they have work, food and clothes.
can not the same be said of any individual who believes what they are told to believe rather then finding something to believe in them selves? i'm not starting a religious thing here you can have both types in any religious group, and i'm not starting a political thing ether the same remains true. take any group of people with any set of ideals and you will find within its ranks those who believe it because they were told to and those who believe it because they know without a shadow of a doubt that it is what they should believe.
Well, what the two movies present is much more than people believing what they are told. What happens is that a normal group of people become "crazy". Like the ultimate mob mentality. You ever seen in real life or in video or herd stories of a group of people that got totally out of control? Like the group turns on one person or a few people, make them out to be "targets" and then one person in the group punches them. Then another joins in. Then another. Next thing you know the entire group is kicking them to death? When groups get whipped up into completely irrational frenzies and just go way overboard?

like when an employee gets trampled to death after opening a door for those waiting out side to take advantage of the savings within?
like when a linch mob gets formed in a tavern?
humans live on the edge of such insanity, and it doesnt take much to push them over the edge.
even here in our own community someone can get pegged out and the rest will do all they can to drive them from the site.
