I think that there is a basic misconception going on here. Allow me to correct it.
You see, forums are where people go to have discussions, maybe look up some guides, maybe share some information, maybe ask non-urgent and non-customer-service questions. They are driven by the forum members. On our forum, as with many others, we have moderators. These are people who are here to keep an eye on things and ensure that the forum members follow our rules. They aren't obliged to deal with individual inquiries from forum members, or to answer questions about the game, or to be visible.
Our moderators are here to watch over the forums. They are not customer service representatives and they have no responsibility to display themselves or make themselves available to forum members.
Now, if they choose to make themselves available to the forum members and to engage in personal interactions, we think that's a nice touch. They certainly don't have to do so, and they may choose when, how, and how often to do so, if at all. If they prefer to moderate from behind a cloak of invisibility, or to shut off their pm's, or to shut off their vm's, or anything else, that's their choice.
While we appreciate that you have shared your opinion on this with us, it is obvious to me that several forum members seem to have some proprietary feeling of ownership over the moderating team. That or you are confused about a moderator's role on these forums. Whichever it may be, I hope I have helped you understand why moderators will always be allowed invisible mode and why I personally might end up getting snippy if you pile guilt trips on them about it.
