Robots don't need sleep anyway.
Or computers, or whatever it is that composes Skynets.
It's all Rodri's fault.
Ghost... Remember what I said about your pants? Yeah, the same goes with your game face. Back on trooper! No fighting in public, we're mods remember?!
Too late, I'm putting up my dukes.

FoxyBunny made a good point.
and yes mods do need the invisible/ ninja mode to catch spammers and have some time for a break, otherwise they would become rather grouchy.
yes they annoy people sometimes when they pop outta nowhere and red rep you for a spam post, thats their job.
and the fact that they do reply after you inquire on something you have no idea about is awesome XD
yes Ghost101 im talking about you XD
Err ... that's bee-coz I'm not assigned there.
I rarely (or almost never) go invisible. I've tried it for a time when I was a member; it's not as much fun. But it does have its perks. Some good points have already been stated in this thread, so I won't go about repeating them anymore. Imho, mods have a right to go invisible as much as the next guy. This doesn't in any way hamper their ability to do their job on the forums.
I receive the same amount of messages whether I'm offline or online, so I don't think "appearing offline" while in invisible mode actually deters people from going to you for help. Besides, there's almost always a mod online 24/7, invisible or not, so almost nothing gets missed, but a friendly poke/heads-up now and then also helps.
Also a note ... we can only do so much. We're not machines ('cept for maybe Skynet and the skwerl) and well, we also need breaks. This isn't a full-time job where we get paid, so if some mods prefer to do their job while in invisible mode, that's their prerogative.

Does it matter? I mean really does it matter if volunteer staff are invisible? When a politician campaigns the majority of the work is done purely by volunteers, do you complain to the politician that his staff aren't visible enough in the media?
