    Default Scout bombs

This morning I sent a basic 100k scout bomb at a target of mine, nothing fancy, just to dump some honor and kill some archers. To wipe out a few more than normal I decided to send my main attack hero. I made sure, and just as I left him, 100 loyalty. Now, when the attack hit, bam, my hero is gone.

This is really strange to me, 100 loyalty and everything, and gone after a loss on a scout bomb.

Can anyone explain this to me? I'm not a fan of losing my main hero because of a fluke.

    It's not a mistake.

When you lose a battle, there is a chance your hero will be captured.
It does not matter if you are the attacker or defender.

    100 - LOY + 5 = Percentage chance of loss
    A 100 Loyalty hero has a 5% chance of being cap'd.

Basically, once the hero loses, their loyalty is 95. That's why there's a 5% chance of losing them.
The formula is technically 100 - (LOY after fight) = % chance to capture.

    I like it. ^_^

So, now that you answered this question, I have another.

What are the odds I'd re-cap my hero from attacking him? I mean this guy is a knight, no chance of persuading my hero. So since loyalty remains at 0...?

    You can't... yet.

He has to recruit the hero, first. Then that hero has to be the largest attack so it will be auto-chosen to defend. Then that hero has to lose the battle. Then it's the same odds of the formula posted above. He'll probably up the loyalty to 100 if he recruits the hero. There's also no guarantee that he would keep the hero in the same city.

The hero won't defend the city if it's sitting "captured," but not recruited. If it can't defend the city, it can't take part in the battle to be captured.

edit: This actually happened to me just recently. Except I was the one who captured an attacking hero...

My compact defense defeated his onslaught, and I captured 5 heros in the process. He promptly sent me a mail apologizing and whining about losing his best attack hero. He told me to keep the other 4, but PLEASE return that uber hero. I replied to him that I did not have the rank to recruit the hero. Even if I had the rank, I did not have the justice medals it would require. In fact, I could not recruit ANY of the captured heros. I couldn't return them if I wanted to.

He learned a hard lesson about being a bully. I could have warned him what would happen if he had bothered to show the common courtesy to send a "port or die" or "join or die" ultimatum a day before the attack. I know I show that courtesy to players with my bigger lords. Everyone deserves the chance to avoid a total wipe.

Well this has been a depressing day in my Evony career then. =/
Time to work from scratch, my next best hero has about 70 attack off my main, not bad, but not great.

Happened to me this morning, lost a high attack hero on a city I was hitting the night before, also I captured a 154 attack hero and my city has only lvl 3 walls and max attack hero is 65. Sent the attacker a thank you Note

So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak

I've captured a hero that was unpersuaded in a city from an alliance mate, the odds of it happening I don't know.

Yea, my thank you note to him was draining him of all resources, troops, and defenses. When I lost my hero I sent an 80k cav & 18k cata smack at him. Lost 60k cav on everything, but healed 65% thanks to penicillin.
So now, he's truced and I'm waiting until tomorrow to raid him again.
