now that we can have a srs discussion I would like to say that dropping the nukes on japan saved as many american lives as it destroyed japanese ones, japan was not going to surrender to america, they were fully prepared to continue the fighting unless america invaded. Have you ever seen the plans that america had for invading japan? it called for a ton of marines and the projected casualties were immense

the a-bomb was the best solution to end the war.

Vietnam was only a failure because the american politicians didnt have a clear political objective besides lol stop commies, and then they tied the american generals hands refusing to let them handle the war in the right way and actually achieve clear objectives besides take this hill ok give it back ok take that hill and give it back.

Either way the vietnam war was a huge can of worms and while the cause of helping oppressed people retain their freedom instead of being under the thumb of a communist dictator is a noble action the politicians could not figure out the best way to achieve it and thats why we should not let politicians dictate how we fight wars.

Montros, you aren't being objective and you're acting sort of ignorant.

I've got to agree with Nesterus here. Japan refused to surrender, at all. This would have forced America to invade, causing millions more civilian casualties then there were. While the A-Bomb may not have been the best choice for resolution, it still saved more lives and prevented more destruction then it caused.

And Vietnam was mostly instigated by American politicians who had an interest in making profit from the war, whether from a plan to smuggle cocaine in dead G.I.s, or simply from actual war related things itself.

They should have also known that, after Hilter's defeat, the Japanese Empire had virtually no experienced soldiers or any soldiers at all. They were reduced to practically sending children out of High school, and most of the experienced soldiers died in battle, or in the Kamikaze Special Flight Squad.

And I just got an infraction from AllDayXL for posting a political post. I'm guessing since you all continued it that you got the same as well?

One would presume so. But I don't think I've EVER been infracted for political stuff... Despite all the times I've brought it up.

Could you support your theory with evidence of my ignorance?

Japan, as I said before, was reduced to almost nothing. Soldiers on islands they needed to protect were hiding in caves and bunkers. Food was scarce. Supplies were poorly transported. Soldiers suffered from bad diarea and were practically starving. Water was contaminated.

Yes, American troops went through that was well, but if you compare them, Japan will have the lower hand, definately.

And about the second bomb, other than me, who else thinks that was unneeded?

Because DoubleM insulted Japan without any good evidence. I'm sorry, but I can't just stand around and take it like that. Maybe if some people weren't so ignorant of the other story, they wouldn't have the guts insult them in that sort of fashion.
