I vote all of the above
Once upon a time the Mongolians conquered massive areas of Eastern Europe right into modern-day Hungary and altered the way that wars were fought. Mongolian Emporers sat upon the Chinese throne. Now they are an "unimportant" nation that has no power.
Now think about the Roman Empire, the Ottoman Empire and even the British Empire. All of them have faded away to some degree and these countries that were the most powerful in the world are no longer as significant as they once were. Power is a fickle mistress and likes to shift around. Those countries that consider themselves to be the most powerful nations now will also fade in time. Some may suffer civil wars, some may become impoverished and some may even become subjects of another nation. All things pass.

Well, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was long in its decline in the Eighteenth Century. This was no longer the nation of King Casimirus III 'the Great' or King John III Sobieski. At its political apogee or its territorial zenith, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth stretched from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. Also, in the three partitions of the Commonwealth that occurred in the years of 1772 CE, 1793 CE and 1795 CE, the decaying nation was hopelessly outnumbered and outfought in which it was dismembered and dissolved by the three powerful nations of Hohenzollern Prussia, Habsburg Austria and Romanov Russia. Before the Third Partition of 1795 CE, the Polish-Lithuanian state was experiencing a slight revival. However, a resurgent Polish-Lithuanian nation was unacceptable to Catherine II 'the Great' and the other so called enlightened absolutists or benevolent despots.
The Austrian Empire of the Habsburgs was not labeled as the Austro-Hungarian Empire until the Dual Monarchy was established or formed in 1867 CE in which the empire was divided into the two major portions of Cisleithania and Transleithania. The Magyar aristocracy desired greater regional autonomy, a greater representation in the central government and a greater claim in the internal organization of the Empire.Ikeni: Poland-Lithuania with Prussia and Austria-Hungary later on
