@ OP why are we assuming that the player your attacking is clueless, and doesn't have a have a lvl 10 beacon tower? Whenever anyone getts attacked I think it's fair to say they always check where the attack is coming from, if someone didn't take the time to check where the attack was coming from, or is nub that they haven't lvled there beacon tower then you more then likly don't need to worry about wasting any cents on them b/c more then likly they don't know how to play. I mean really, you said in a follow up post later on that it worked for you, but the truth is, regardless of if he sent back a wave that was 20k troops or 100k troops you still would have conquered him, I mean clearly the guy is stupid... right? This strategy is also banking on the player being online, which is why this maybe the dumbest strategy i'v ever heard of, granted i'm always sitting in CD unless i'm being attacked, but the only way anyone will ever take one of my city is if they attack me well i'm offline, if anyone ever attacked me well i'm online then they would lose anything they sent at me, and I more then likely wouldn't lose a single archer, my point being...... the best defense is being online to switch from a CD to a 5k setup when you see attacks coming. Although CD is great it's self(a good CD well cost 20times more to beat then then the cost to build said troops in setup) in a 5k setup you lose almost nothing, and as long as you keep you range setters up, then you will never lose, and your enemy will so quit after he/she fails to see any reports, and then scouts you to find that he/she hasn't killed a single archer lol..... That being said there are sometimes when it's just best to stick with CD even when you are online, ether way a bluff attack would not effect a player that is online that knows how to defend there city b/c it really is just like the enemy is pushing there troops into a meat grinder, and if they happen to send alot more in one wave(which again would be noticed if it's bloated over what a player build city rallypoint can send) then thats just more meat for the grinder.

You bet your boots I am. So if the defender sees a wave of 100k-200k troops, most of which are layered to do heavy damage, those waves will more than likely be recalled. So make those waves Bluffs. That way the defender will send back the least damaging waves, not the most damaging.
O/c I would check where the attack is coming from on each attack... why wouldn't I? doesn't matter if it's 10 waves, 50 waves, or 100, I always check to see what type of attack is coming my way, and determine if my archer can beat the wave in the 5k setup or not........ It's not as if it takes any effort what-so-ever to look at there the attack is coming from, I check where an attack is coming from how many waves and the make up of each wave, and then think about if I want to keep CD up or not, and if not, then move out the troops that would be wasted in 5k, then Q up my range setters "if" that is what I'm doing. In all honesty it doesn't matter if it is a 100k wave or a 150-200k wave..... in a 5k setup a standered rainbow wave that 95% of the games population uses will turn into red mist before they get a single shot off if they attack my city, but again red flags would be flying if I saw a 150-200k wave coming from a lvl 10 player city, and to assume that people are too dumb to notices something like that is foolish.

I think if we're going to talk about the practical use of a stratgem then we should not assume that the player doesn't have a beacon tower, or that the player is too lazy to check where an attack is coming from, or even that the player in question doesn't know how to defend there city. And we should be assuming that the player is at the very least somewhat knowledgeable, I have a few of the gems your talking about that turn away an attack, but the truth is I'v never used them, and not sure I ever will, the reason being is if you know what is coming at you it's so easy to counter it(evony is such an easy game if your defending, and understand the mechanics of the game), and more often then not I'm hoping my enemy doesn't recall there troops, b/c I intend on killing anything they send at me. Not only would this idea for bluffing waves not work with someone with half a brain, but you yourself said it wouldn't work on you if someone tried it, so why on earth are you trying to sell this idea to others?
