This makes me think of a question posed by John Waters in his Colbert Report interview about a month ago....

John Waters: "Wouldn't you rather your kid be a drug dealer, than a drug addict?"

This was not an advocation of drug dealing, but just an observation. It's better to be a little different, than to be one of the mindless sheep. Even if it means being shunned by some people. It's better to control your own life, than just follow the fads of the culture you live in.

Of course, the answer is that you want your child to be neither. But, given the choice between ONLY those two options, anyone would prefer their child be the person who controls their own life. The addict is controlled by exterior forces, while the dealer shapes their own future.

I don't even understand the question.
