I have to agree with you on this one. I don't play much anymore, but I feel your frustration.

All that is needed are two threads:

An Age I Update thread and an Age II update thread. Simple notes could be posted there, so instead of coming right out and saying exactly what is going to happen. Each thread woudl be controlled so that no one else but reps could post, to keep spam down.

They wouldn't state exactly what woudl happen, like this,

Today I Find out that HC16+ Will Always have Phracts and Pults.
And That the Food Levy Policy on HCs is down to 20% from 30%
but instead reps can post notes like:

    Troops in Historical Cities level 16 and over have been adjusted;
Food levy Policy rate has been adjusted.

Changes are to be implemented on * date at * Server time.
This way, people like JP still get their 'fun' from the surprise of the adjustment, and people that like a bit of warning about changes still get it.

    Cheers

I think surprises and changes help make the game interesting and more engaging. Afterall, every battlefield is very dynamic. Troops and numbers change constantly. As well as environment. It keeps us on our toes. I think its more funner... and more better... more funner better.

JP I'm starting to get the impression you intentionally post things that are totally irrelevant and just like to argue.
Are you honestly saying that you dont want timely communication between the devs and the players?

Looks to me like you can't cap a lev 16 anyways and so you're more than happy when changes happen and your enemies need to find out the hard way...

Most of the arguments that you cite are basically irrelevant. It took all of a few hours for players to find out and posts to go up on the boards, and all of a few hours after that before attack formulas were created. In other words, the so-called problem you cite happened anyway, regardless of whether they notified us or not.
Timely communication about such changes communicates respect and concern, and is a key foundation toward building the mutual trust required in any ongoing relationship.

I have been on these forums for a few months now. And I know one thing is certain... IF Evony DID send out some kind of notice like you just said, a vague heads up so to speak, the same posters complaining now will still complain when the vague heads up is released. "They didnt give enough information. Screw you Evony!! What you just told us is useless!!! Tell us something that we can actually use!! Bahhhh!!!"

Cmon guys, do you seriously think that if Evony gave some kinds of heads up on a change that any of the critics would be ok with it?

How many online games have you played JP?

It's pretty common for online games to tell the players of changes to game mechanics before the do the change, or when they do the change.... in fact evony is the only online game that I find the communitation from the devlopment team to be lacking, what I find really funny is how your so gun hoe to defend thier lack of communication, as if it's common practice.

I'm wondering if there aren't more changes that happened.
I was running some tests on HC 14 today and was getting horrible kill numbers against cav... ( 150k archers + layer + 560 attack hero kill only 102k cav with 75% fortifications gone..)

I am 37 and have been playing network games since Doom3D in the early 90's.
I am talking NetBios games first, then TCP when Decent came out.
Duke Nukem, Quake, etc... basically, ever since people were able to multiplay on networks.

so basicaly you have never played an MMO before, or been apart of a MMO community before evony, ok, so this explain alot

Just so you know, major changes do happen on other MMO's, they are almost always told to the community beforehand, evony is pretty much the only one that doesn't, this is infact why people complain about it, you don't understand b/c you have never been apart of an MMO community before evony.

Maybe you did not understand my post. You asked how long I have ben playing online games. I said since the early 90s when the capability first existed. That includes all types of online games. Critical thinkers do not jump to conclusions, so try not to do that. Also, critical thinkers and business leaders do not do things just because someone else does. Perhaps you did not read what I explained to Acer500

"In the business world, if you simply do what the rest do, then you will always be status quo. Business leaders and truly successful businesses do not do what others do simply because others do it. And just because others do it does not mean it is a good idea.
In the past Cisco and Google and Yahoo once provided free drinks and snacks to their employees. Was that a good idea? If I started a tech company then I should also provide free drinks and snacks to my employees because some other tech companies do it?
Toyota, Mitsubishi and Honda make their employees pay for all drinks from the vending machines. Maybe we should just do what they do.

Acer, do not use what other people do as a reason. That is not critical thinking nor is it what truly successful people do. Dont be afraid to do what YOU think is best regardless of what others say or do. That is called vision. That is called being a leader, not a follower."

I asked if you had played any online games, you told me which ones you had played, and this gave me a clear picture why you don't understand "why so many peple complain about the the lack of communicate". I understood your post perfectly.

Why do you insist on going off topic to try and explain something?
What the hell does toyota, or yahoo, and google have to do with anything that we're talking about?

I explained to you why you are clueless about the MMO community, and you start rambling on about cars and search engines....how many topics do you derail a week JP?

Do you really think it's a good idea for an MMO to not communicate with the community?
