Thread: Silent Game Changes

I personally agree with changing the game without warning, repetition is boring. For the changes they made i dont see a reason to announce. If it were something like alliances can only declare on 5 other alliances, sure post it.. but if its a new strategic change such as the first change... so be it, adapt, adaptation is one of the biggest power plays in all online games. I've played everything from ultima online, to counterstrike, to star craft 2... its all about adapting, and thats what we'll do. Stop crying. Its going to happen anyway. Instead of posting about it on the forums figure out how to manipulate it.

Also wanted to add. Funner is not a word. The correct verbal combination would be "more fun".

Can we go back to talking bout chess?

Topic. Evony has lost a lot of money from me. I had a 150 auto cent and a second 30 auto. That was 180 a month if you cannot add. Or it is one toyota + half a prius. Evony is NOT I repeat NOT a strategy game. PERIOD! There is NO strategy in a game with all the "exploits" such as no food needed and a Suzzies troops forget how to fight cause a colony has no academy. Add in unannounced changes. How can you make a strategy around constant changes?

I play another game now. A free third person combat game. Whenever their servers are jacked up they have the "tech" guys go work on it and the "customer relations" people post to their forums. AND one of them EVEN (albeIt sarcastically) admitted they are not perfect and are "new" to all this stuff. Evony has been around for a LONG time. Plenty of time to understand, what in my opinion. Is basic gaming company relations with customers. Evony is not a cartridge game that once released is forever "as is". Maybe that is the problem. or even the solution. Maybe they should "think" more like catridge makers. And just do MONTHLY or bi-MONTHLY updates with major "critical exploits" fixed as needed.

Playing evony for the past month has been like frogger. We the players are the frog. Evony the game is the other side of the road. Devs are the cars zooming by.

P.S. I called the local union to recall your troll membership card. They said they never made it past your first answer of the application cause they could not understand anything you said.

More analogies. Like nike"just do it". In your case. "Just stop". Everyone sees what you truly are. Every post you have ever made is always based on "how to make a single, non coining player who plays 30 minutes a day. Be able to take out any player or alliance." Style. And your feeble attempt in this response just certified that fact.

Finally, yes I am ****ed at Evony. They make you think evony is a strategy game and requires a lot of technical apptitude to play and be good. They pull you in just far enough that you spend a chunk of money and then realize that with just three STUPID "tricks" you can be virtually unstoppable.

You can keep on defending a broken system. You go right ahead. That is you right. Just as my right. With in reason as a customer. Is to point out what I feel is jacked up and how I feel totally betrayed by the developers.

All games get changed and modified and "fixed". But even my cheap FB games have updates when you log in. We get a daily pop up for amulets. Why not have a second pop up with any changes made. Or notices bout upcoming servers or offers and "stuff"? Simple and effective.

*DING DING DING* sounds like a swell plan. Too bad that's all it will ever be.

I haven't played any other game where the code has been hijacked as often as evony and players were left to figure out what was done. Even when devs break their games or the way one was used to playing it, they told you it happened.

I totally believe Evony can change their game on the fly. Sure some of us may see it as a bait and switch and courts might even agree (I'm not a lawyer), but its their game. I just want to try and understand why half the things that have been changed have. If they want to change the dynamic of the game, do it on new servers and stop making people pay for what has recently become a public Beta.

Perfect example... Why is it I still don't have an attack button on NA19 but the rest of the game play has to be the same as na22?

I think surprises and changes help make the game interesting and more engaging. Afterall, every battlefield is very dynamic. Troops and numbers change constantly. As well as environment. It keeps us on our toes. I think its more funner... and more better... more funner better.
    Good point.

I guess suspending me for a day changed me...NOT

    Hey guys,

First of all, I apologize for not getting the information out there about the tweak in the makeup of historic cities. It was a small change so I'm sure someone felt it wasn't important enough to merit patch notes. Sorry about that. It is our policy to document all changes (even if we don't give exact data).

I've seen many suggestions asking us to make a thread with patch notes. We always have the latest patch notes posted on the homepage and a sticky thread in General Discussion as well. For the most part, every change makes it in there. Sometimes something like this will slip through the cracks. I'm sorry about it, but these things do happen from time to time. We're only human. The nature of online games is that they are constantly changing. This is true of every game and every genre. Thats why "Patch Notes" is a term that is known to every gamer. Every game has them.

Evony is a dynamic gameplay experience. We are constantly implementing new features and new mechanics and seeing how they work and how they are received, then deciding whether or not to widen implementation. If you want a static game that never changes, there are plenty of console games and single player games out there. Evony is not, and never will be a same-old-same-old game. We try to keep each change or addition as small as possible to limit any possible negative effects, but changes, tweaks and updates are inevitable and necessary.

That is not to say that we change for the sake of change. We have a talented development team that is always working to refine and improve Evony. We have a plan and we respond to player concerns. We don't simply lurch into the darkness, but neither do we remain still. That is the essence of Evony. To say that you didn't receive what you purchased because we updated the game is a ridiculous argument. By that logic, as soon as someone makes a purchase we can never patch the game again without being accused of "bait and switch." While you may disagree with certain changes, patches are necessary for the game to remain fun, competitive and entertaining.

We have a responsibility and dedication to keeping Evony fun for as many players as possible and we'll continue to do what is necessary to make that happen. Our overriding goal is, and always has been, making you happy.

Dawn, what is posted above is really what most players have asked for, "Just acknowledge us".

While IMHO I feel it still happens more often then not that things are changed and no notification is given, at least you took the 5-10 minutes to just say you saw we were discussing it. +1 to Evony for showing up.

Well it turns out that there were not any changes to the game. The food levy was not decreased. It is the same as it was. In fact it was increased from 10% to 20% just a few weeks ago, as documented in the patch notes.

Level 16 historic cities do not always have the exact same army composition guarding them. Once again, this was not a change. It's been that way. You just need to scout.

So there were no "silent" changes.
