i have over 10years driving experience. i've been on both sides of that wheel. i've been the pedestrian trying to walk where an inattentive driver is driving, i've driving past and over dangers with reckless abandon.
there was this one time i got good air jumping my little coupe over railroad tracks. but i wised up since then as far as driving goes and i pay attention to what i'm doing, where i'm going, and what is happening around me.
i've warned a driver i was riding with that there was a dear in the road that they hadnt seen, as well as bikers about to cut them off, and idots who cant go an extra 100ft to the cross walk where they would have to wait for the light.
i maintain that this act is one of desperate cleverness. they are thinking about how to get ppl to slow down and thinking there is a kid in the road is a good way to accomplish that. that fact that she is chasing a ball, and nether her nor the ball is moving should clue the drivers in that she is not real and thus make it easier for them to disassociate her from the real thing. but it is my opinion that thay are after the knee jerk reaction of "OH EXPLICATIVE THERE IS A KID IN the... wait thats not a kid" but by then you already hit the brakes and slowed down. good job doing what you should have done before someone painted a pop up kid in your way.
