What you describe is true of any democracy at any time.
Anyone who disagreed with him was executed for example field marshal erwin rommel was killed by hitler. Rommel was given the choice drink the poison and you will be given a state funeral and we wont kill ur family or face the people's court(which was controled by hitler) So rommel took the poison.
