Executives in office make decisions. That doesn't mean they make all decisions. Nor does it mean that making a decision from a place of authority, such as Thalin enjoys here, makes one a Nazi at all. How many people did Hitler actually personally kill with his own hands? What he did do was issue orders that filtered down to party members and government employees who did the dirty work. That is what is described as "the banality of evil". Sure, Hitler made the big decision, but there were many, many other people who were in a position to stop his nasty decisions and didn't.

Democracy is power to the people, all people in group. Te Nazi's were a very small percentage(Look it up, I can't remember) of the population, sort of like the Mod's are here.
The Nazis polled 33% of the vote in the 1932 election and 44% in the 1933 election. Now in the United States, neither of those % will get a party into government, but in other more representative democracies, those are very high %. I'd imagine that most of the ruling parties in democracies today poll those numbers or below.

I guess my overall point is this, having a strong executive making decisions is not the same thing as Nazi Germany. I think the Evony website and company are more complex entities than people believe them to be, and I think that Nazi Germany was more complex than people believe it was. One has to be careful using comparisons like this.

When the forum trolls, those who live within the community and feel a deep connection to that community, step into the situation they may be able to improve it.

Sometimes, all they do is make the annoying person shush. Problem solved.

Sometimes, they provoke the annoying person into outright breaking forum rules, thus allowing the moderators a chance to step in and resolve the situation. Problem solved.

Sometimes, though, especially when the trolling is obvious, persistent, or badly handled, it leads to more problems. That, of course, doesn't solve the problem.

As a result, the trolls who can keep themselves in check and handle things properly are tolerated and even welcomed by the forum staff. The best of the trolls get promoted to moderator *coughboleslavcough*.
    Ha!!! So true.... mama mia....

Best described as a torrent of little children running around in a minefield (users), some armed with weapons (moderators), forums are the flagship of internet discussion, spam, and flame wars. Smaller forums tend to be more habitable, but the larger ones have many distinct and similar features. For example, within approximately seven seconds of the creation of a topic, you will have at least one reply, garunteed. Large forums also tend to spawn makeshift caste systems (emp. mine) within themselves, and you're automatically a malefactor in the forum until you have a 4-digit post count. A forum can sometimes be helpful, but normally they become a time consuming and frustrating thing if you pay too much attention to them.

and trolls are trolls, they are defined amongst the internet community as such:

One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.

I like this definition. Based on it the Evony forums have approximately 486 trolls...

But what is silly is when posters scream TROLL just because another poster is presenting arguments against the others post. So if you disagree or argue something you are a trollopollo.... my little pony.

Trolling can be amusing if a member subtly does so using wit, but I just find lolcats irritating.

I'm beginning to think this thread was a troll from the start.

Trolls never die, they just become small plastic toys made in Korea.
