A high end player might need double than the previous to take it, but a low end player, with 300attack and 100k max per wave needs about 20% more barracks time to build the necessary troops, and it wasn't like the figures for 300attack/100k waves was really high before. I'm sure if I asked around, the top 30 players in my alliance would have enough troops to take approximately 4 of them, the only hard part is planning it out.

Every game has an endgame, and every game has a point at which it is good to reevaluate how long we should continue playing it. At this point, I'm quite thankful that Age 2 has been far more interesting than Age 1 and it kept me involved for at least twice as long.
Good post. And Age II does not have an end game.
Age II is King of the Hill. Players will clammer to take Atlantis and stay on top. Then get taken off the hill by another, then another, then another, etc...
There will always be a new King of the Hill. If there is a fresh influx of new players the game will never stop. Why? Because the new guy will want to become the king of the hill. Then the next new guy will want to take him off of it. Repeat, repeat...
