what is a Yakuza? and more importantly to me, why would that be bad?

so when choosing a tattoo its important to not inadvertently get one that a gang uses? i never even thought of that.... man that makes getting one even more tricky then i thought

Dragons, Skulls, and Armbands are all semi bad ideas. If your getting something make it different. For example the skull add a background picture. The US Marines for a instance Will not accept someone with Armbands if they are completely all around and possible show. And if your joining ANY branch they run your tattoo thru the database to make sure you are not a gang member

Yakuza are Japanese Gangs that smuggle and deal illegal drugs, weapons, etc. Similar to Mafia and drug cartels, although not that "bad".

Yes. Japanese will be intiminated by any tattoos that you may have, no acceptions to what kind they are. If you have ink, they'll think you're in a gang.

Thats really only National Japanese. American Japanese have learned that tattoos are different here. And yes Montros out of sight BUT Marines are much much more strict. Anything close that looks like a gang tattoo is a no

My first tattoo I got is on my left shoulder and is of a bulldog with dogtags in its mouth and Semper Fi written over it.

My second is the Kanji symbol for honor, also on my left shoulder.

My third is the Kanji symbol for strength on my right shoulder.

My fourth is of a buckle and two feathers on my upper right arm.

My fifth is a tribal armband with a scorpion in the middle on my left arm 4 inches above the elbow.

My sixth is the Kanji symbol for family between the armband and the bulldog.

My seventh and eighth are twin tribal dragons with skull heads facing each other on my chest.

I haven't gotten my ninth yet, but I'm leaning toward the Captain Morgan symbol either on my left forearm or left shoulder on the back.



Edit: And every tattoo I have has a meaning to me. I don't get tattoos just for the sake of getting them.

So my R/L last name, in my language, means owl. So a sorta tradition in our family is, if we ever end up wanting to get a tattoo, our first one is usually an owl.
I plan on getting an owl tattoo on the back of my neck. I just have to psych myself into paying for one LOL.
