    Ninja.
Pirate would be like, "ARGH!" And wave a single shot, inaccurate pistol around like a tool.
Ninja would like, "Throwing star in the throat!"

Ninja. Pirates would be all "Arrrr I'm gonna shoot you with my cannon!" and before he even finished the ninja would be all like "You're dead. Here's your heart, watch it stop beating before you die." and the pirate would be totally like "Ugh, I'm dead."

    Yeah.

Ninja's because they have katana's, which are awesome.

Combine both. Then you'll hear something like this: "Shiver me shurikens!"

I vote ninja! They have more of a mystery appeal, always sneaking around, versus pirates; who seem to be more like brawlers.

Of course, pirates have more of a "romantic" appeal than ninja's.

    Little known fact regarding Ninja;

The ninja were reputed to being able to walk through walls, and to enter and escape heavily fortified locations.

The simple fact is they used a deception that relied heavily upon the Japaneese culture of their period.

The trained assassin who was to kill the Shogun was in fact a woman.
She arrived as a Geisha who was to pillow the Shogun that night.
Later, a shadowy figure was seen outside the walls of the Shgun's fortress. Guards spotted this figure several times and the alarm was raised.
Then while everyone was looking outside, a piercing scream was heard from the Shgun's room. The hysterical woman speaks of a shadowy figure who slipped into the room in absolute silence, and disappeared almost as into vapor.
The simple truth was, she ran the Shogun through with a sword and then proceeded to tell the tale of the Ninja's feat.

Of course, shortly there after the guards would see the shadowy figure escaping into the wilderness. (How did he get in and out of this fortress? and do you really want to go after someone who can do that?)

Japaneese society at that time was so rigid that had you told them it was really the Geisha, they would have lauged in your face.

Yes, they had martial arts talent, and yes they were capable assassins. But their deception is what gave them that edge of being able to "move though walls."

They are still cooler than pirates!

I guess it depends on the ninja or pirate. if it's a pirate like Captain Jack Sparrow then pirate would win. if it's a ninja like Ryu Hayabusa, then ninja would kick ass.

Jack Sparrow would crush any ninja that got anywhere near him. Plus I'm more interested in that era of history.

It saddens me that people are picking pirates based on a few movies.
Seemingly to be specific characters/actors in those movies, which is worse.

No he wouldn't! He would spout some backwards logic, dodge a ninja star, say something that makes everyone else laugh than fall backwards off the boat. lol. I love those movies (well, the first 2)

    Default pirate, hands down

You folks have been watching too many movies, pirates were trained soldiers skilled at swordplay, plus they had guns, one shot sure, but they carried six of them. And ceramic grenades would blow the ninja to hell.

so the ninja is just supposed to stand there while the pirate lights the fuse on his grenade? and Pirates Of The Of Caribbean got it mostly right, pirates have no training at all and are drunk a lot.

let's see how Jack Sparrow versus Ryu Hayabusa would go:

    Jack: *Takes out pistol*
    Hayabusa: *cuts Jack's head off*
