Little known fact regarding Ninja;
The ninja were reputed to being able to walk through walls, and to enter and escape heavily fortified locations.
The simple fact is they used a deception that relied heavily upon the Japaneese culture of their period.
The trained assassin who was to kill the Shogun was in fact a woman.
She arrived as a Geisha who was to pillow the Shogun that night.
Later, a shadowy figure was seen outside the walls of the Shgun's fortress. Guards spotted this figure several times and the alarm was raised.
Then while everyone was looking outside, a piercing scream was heard from the Shgun's room. The hysterical woman speaks of a shadowy figure who slipped into the room in absolute silence, and disappeared almost as into vapor.
The simple truth was, she ran the Shogun through with a sword and then proceeded to tell the tale of the Ninja's feat.
Of course, shortly there after the guards would see the shadowy figure escaping into the wilderness. (How did he get in and out of this fortress? and do you really want to go after someone who can do that?)
Japaneese society at that time was so rigid that had you told them it was really the Geisha, they would have lauged in your face.
Yes, they had martial arts talent, and yes they were capable assassins. But their deception is what gave them that edge of being able to "move though walls."
They are still cooler than pirates!
