okay now I'm confused - the guy kept his city right next to mine, and went into Holiday --- is he trying to catch me off guard or something when he comes out? don't u have to be in holiday for two days at a time? how does this help him?![]()

If he's farming you make yourself less interesting to attack. Have only enough iron and wood for your troops and use them all on building troops before you log off. Make sure your walls are at 10 and full. If he has nothing worthwhile to plunder he'll bore of it and attack someone else. If that doesn't work, port. I know it sucks having to do that, but I was getting farmed as a noob, invested in an ad. port and then built myself up to have troops where hardly noone attacks me.
I doubt he holiday'd for you. There was probably a conflict at one of his other cities he felt the need to holiday for. If he is a big power player, then you are likely the smallest front of his current battles. Truly big players have a war going on with multiple fronts. He probably came under siege at another city.
When involved in a Large scale war Many of the Largest Players will Adv Port into enemy clusters then as soon as the troops really poor into the cities nearest them they will holiday and have Alliance mates kep track of those cities around the war city.... Soon as troops relax in those cities the Big Player will come out of Holiday and Hit hard and repeat..... Especially if they have a HUGE Food bill...... and not getting anything in return..... Keep an eye on his city... Keep up your troops in that city or lay a trap..... Cause Odds are your still a Target
It could also be he holida for real life, bigger players have crazy food bills, some at -200 an hour for all their cities combined. If real life gets in the way, holiday is big for them. As far as protecting your city, have your mates get you to 500k swords and make sure your compact has max towers. Then store all resources elsewhere. If he's hellbent on the kill, your sol, if it's resources, he'll eventually see it's not worth it. Finally, prestige means nothing, unless you know he has the troops, his port could have been a retreat. Good luck!

If you only have one city than you dont even need the speech text cause no one can take the city. Other than that I'd talk to them, it always helps me. Dont whine at him to leave you be it only makes it worse. Just talk to them like hes your best friend chances are he will end up liking you enough to leave you alone.
this happens to me more than 1 occasion.
When I port to attack there is 2 main goal, plunder plunder, or trophy hunting red city.
Most times, I plunder, while I was plundering a player with 2 billion food and 30 mil resourcess each and I got an email " hi! how can I help you?, what a big boy like you doing here?" and he was good at rubbing my ego.
I felt bad and I lose the interest to plunder him to zero, so i left him with half or more of his resources and moved on.
Ofcourse, i can only imagine what he is saying after i left, what a jerk, fooled him.
Yup i agree with this, too.
many players also have multiple server account, sometimes going holiday/ truce because he might be threaten in his other server and felt the bigger threat needs more attention.
also, sometimes nothing planned works out, like medical or family emergency at the worse possible time.
Well said, you speak with experience dealing with big players.
Yes, a big player losses more than troops and even much bigger if he dont play smart.
Each time he send waves he loses food even faster, and without return, it brings him closer to refugees and few, i mean few players utilize the holidays.
Why would they truce/ holiday? well when a porting player disturb a hornet's nest, it will be a task of farming, defending, attacking, with a massive army, he needs to farm far more than the player he is attacking, meaning if he is not in control of the situation, he is force to holiday and return when he is in control.
Anyone ever tried attacking, defending, while farming away? specially with 50 incoming attack at any given time, tracking those attack and timing it so that you are there when it land is a pain.
This is when a high rate of mistakes happen.
Unless it is a personal fight and your city is a key or stratigically located near all your alliance member, than chances are he will be persistant.
Also, most smart players dont continue if there is nothing to be gain, so, if you move your resources and make the fight as hard as you can chances are, he will move on, unless you instigated something and made this a personal fight.
