    Default My Age II rant

    Where Evony messed up with Age II was forcing all players on newer Age II servers to be subject to plunders and city capturing. If this was optional to the players then players could decide if they want to allow their cities to be vulnerable to being captured and plundered. But since it is not optional on newer Age II servers players are basically being forced to play Age I hard-core style, not Age II style. So I would not even call newer Age II servers Age II. I would call them Age I. In Age I starting on an older server makes life really really hard. But on an older Age II server that does not force all players cities to be subject to being plundered and captured, starting late in this style of game play is no big deal because everyone can still build up to 10 cities without having any of them being subject to being destroyed by other players. This means ALL players can grow up to be nice and strong because they are allowed to keep their 10 cities. This also means that new servers are not needed to "give opportunity to others". Players can join older servers and grow up to be just as powerful as any other player. Why on earth Evony decided to break this by forcing all players on newer Age II servers to play Age I style is beyond me.... Why even call it Age II if the gaming environment is forcing players to play Age I style??
    The older Age II servers have extremely balanced gameplay style. If players want to play capture/conquer mode they can take Historical Cities from other players. Evony, you need to stick to your guns on Age II. Force players to play in the colonize mode game play style. If they complain it is boring then tell them to capture some historical cities from enemies. Older Age II servers offer the best of both worlds. Historical Cities for the hard-core conquer players and regular player cities for a softer colonize style game play. By forcing your customers to play in this environment you will need to build less servers, players can join late and "dead" servers will be a thing of the past. Evony, grow some balls and stop letting a few players who scream and shout sway your decisions. Stick to your guns.

    The new age 2 servers are what the vast majority of players wanted. If this were untrue, they would not have been introduced. It is unfair to say Evony should ignore everything their players want just because you and a small proportion of the player base do not agree with this. Especially when these attack servers are one of the few things the players actually agree with and want.
    On the bright side for you and those other players. The easy mode servers do not seem to be getting a change any time soon, so the attack servers do not affect you in any way and you need not worry about having all of your cities taken by the gang of people foaming at the mouth outside your window waiting to be able to take your cities.

    I don't agree with your rant.
    Like you mentioned, if you want to survive on Age I servers, you have to play hardcore. This isn't necessary on Age II. Age II has Facebook which gives you all sorts of buffs. If you run out of food on Age I, your troops go into refuge; if you run out of food in Age II, they start drafting food from another city and if all your cities are out of food, they still don't go into refuge.
    So although the "newer" Age II servers are more like Age I because of the attack option, there's still a huge difference between Age I and Age II: farming.

    Colonization sucks, there isn't really a penalty in getting colonized therefore people don't mind. They should just put the attack/pillage button on the older servers but not let your normal cities get taken.

    Either that or increase the penalty for getting colonized. Who cares about losing 10% resource production? :|

    See, I just can't agree with this. You can't say the vast majority wanted attack servers or else they would not have been introduced. I mean, if what you say is true then it goes without saying that the vast majority of players will setup accounts on the newer Age II attack servers and stay on them. So the newer Age II servers should have AND KEEP far more players than the older Age II servers which do not have the attack option. Problem is, none of us will know the true player base numbers unless we are Evony. So I would be very interested to know if the vast majority of players will continue to game on the newer Age II servers and the vast majority of players leave the older Age II servers. Will be very interesting to see how the newer Age II servers mature compared to the older ones. And I am willing to bet that most players will go back to the older Age II servers after they get tired of their cities getting taken.

    You see, THAT is why I don't like Age I or the newer Age II servers. Players foaming at the mouth to take cities from me that I put money into. If that is the only thing that gets them excited and pumped up (crushing other players and making them beg to have their cities spared) then that is just plain juvenille.

    Yes, something like this would be acceptable. I mean, WTH?? Why are hardcore players so bent on taking others cities?? When that happens it just turns this game into a city rebuilding game and discourages players from putting money into their cities because they know they will get capped if they invest too much into them. I mean, after I buy 18 mich scripts ($90 USD) to make 18 L10 barracks some schmuck is going to want my city so they can build catapults. They will basically take the $90 investment I made. So why make it???

    Serious JP, you do understand that most people are going to newer servers right since there getting bored of older servers, most of the players that have time that are from old servers play on the new ones as well.
