IDK there are alot of plot holes in alot of horror films in general. Everytime i watch one at the end of the movie I ask my friends " well that didn't make sense why didn't they just do (a, b, c) to begin with?"
And the answer is always: "because then there wouldn't be a movie!"

I can see the hive mind explanation with the undead zombies, since there is some mystic, magic component to that plot. But, I don't think the hive-mind could explain the virus zombies.

@ghost: Rent 28 Days Later NAO!!!

    Agreed.
The stupidity of the characters is what keeps most horror movies moving. Not all... but most. In the last decade, writers have been getting better at this. But, the slasher movies will almost always rely on the stupidity of the victims.

Zombie movies are highly cliche and not really meant to be high-plot and intellectually stimulating, right....it's all about graphics. I mean, they're friggin zombies...might as well just watch Thriller!

not a real 'horror' buff my self (i tend to avoid them) but from all the second hand knowledge i have gathered i would offer the explanation of why zombies dont eat each other as similar to that of why Vampires dont drink each others or their own blood.

zombie flesh could be 'poisonous' to other zombies.

the 'hive mind' explanation works well for the undead zombies on another level. the undead usually have to be raised by some necromantic being. (necromancer, litch, angry evil god...) and that being would have given the animated flesh some driving purpose at that time. that was always how i explained it to my self anyway.

i have this thing where if someone else doent explain it to me, i come up with my own explanations, so plot holes dont bother me so much as plot contradictions. i can fill a hole, but how the hell am i supposed to fix a plot contradiction while i'm watching a movie?

O disagree! There's a fine tradition of using zombies in ways such as:

    • to criticize religion
    • to satirize consumerism
    • to simulate epidemics
    • to film lovely, lovely Mila

Milla Jovovich plays Alice in the Resident Evil films. I'm going to take a shot-in-the-dark and say that's what he meant.

Let me solve your dilemma, Rota. Parasite zombies.

Hive mind, collective intelligence provides the information necessary to prod the zombies (or parasites) into targeting only living people.

But, your plot hole focuses of the objective of zombies wanting to kill humans for sustenance. Perhaps there are other reasons.
