It what retarded world will a troop move forward when the enemy is already in its range?

look up the battle of "assaye". it was wellington's greatest victory (he's the guy that tromped all over napoleon). they pressed forward and won!
In many worlds. Accuracy tends to increase with range. In a guerilla or trench warfare, if you can get to a covered position closer to the enemy, it might be worth the initial risk.
Also, in large archer armies, the vanguard would need to continue moving even though they were in range. This is because the troops behind them also need to achieve a range. Various movement techniques can deal with this, but not with extremely large armies.
Neither of these situations apply to the game, I understand.

This isn't really true... While they did press forward this was an age of such stupid warfare (we make movies making fun of the tactic these days btw)... If Evony was in this historical era we'd be using rifles/muskets and have only artillery (cannons) and calvalry for units... Infantry with bayonet equiped rifles did the rest...

now THAT would be a good game.
but regardless of weapons, it is courage and perseverance that made soldiers march into their enemies. maybe they should include morale into this game as well?
ahh, what do i care? i gave my alliance the go ahead to loot my cities hours ago.
