you seriously think you have to be online 24/7 to defend your city? is this seriously coming from the guy that spent thousands on this game to upgrade stars? hmmm, let's see. here is a list of things jpnoob could do if he can comprehend:
1. buy an evony membership card and a blackberry. why might you ask would i recommend this? hmmmm, maybe so you could get email updates of incoming attacks directly to your phone. wow, what a NEW concept

2. have your alliance mates keep watch on incoming attacks via ALLIANCE WAR REPORTS(another NEW concept that has NEVER been used before), then have them either send you an email when something goes down, or if they actually like you(which i doubt), then they might actually reinforce you.
3. as satan said, create a defense that's indestructable. since you know so much, this concept should be child's play.
4. if you still have no confidence in your own abilities and continue to make bs excuses, try doing all of the above. if you have ANY clue about how the mechanics of this game work, you would know that it takes anywhere from 72-90 mins in the absolute quickest fashion possible to cap a player city. being colonized, i'd say this is probably new information to you.
5. truce!!!!!! it's not like you couldn't buy 1000 of these things. truce means you can ONLY be attacked for 12 hrs in a 24 hr period(another brand NEW concept). so, in a 12 hr period, there is an absolute minimum of a 72 min timeframe for someone to steal your city. oops, i just gave a suggestion to you that would make your playing experience go from 24/7 to 12/7.

6. speech text!!!! this would buy you at minimum 72 mins to do something(if you don't understand this 72 min thing, which wouldn't surprise me, it takes a minimum of 72 mins to run loyalty from 12 to 0, 12 being the lowest number it would hit below 16 that starts the loyalty/grievance timer cycle).
7. if you are really afraid of losing it or don't think you have the troops, give it to an alliance mate temporarily who can actually defend, giving you time to build your troops/catapults up. wow, who would have ever thought of that?
so in retrospect, you would NOT have to "account share" and you would NOT have to be on 24/7(or in an aforementioned statement 12/7). now can you actually come up with a logical reason to NOT own a historic city? if you flat out don't want one, don't sugarcoat it. that's incredibly annoying to listen to.
