When you're used to getting high attack and being able to make troops quickly, Age2 looks not worth playing because you take months to build a decent army that can be expended within a few minutes. On Age1, you can make the same army as fast as you can create population once you get that hero. If Age1 didn't exist, I'd agree with you. But since it does, I must say that Age2 made some drastic changes that do not follow how Age1 had lived and was quite unexpected when Age2 came out which is probably why it was (and still is) met with hostility among Age1 players.
Well, keep in mind, Age 2 is not Age 1.1.
Age II is totally different. It's like old school MS-DOS by Microsoft, think of MS-DOS as Age I. Then comes Age II, that is MS Windows. Were there still DOS lovers wen Windows was released? Yes, lots of them. It's OK to love DOS. But that ship has sailed. Time to move forward.
