They would be disadvantaged because:
- their heroes would all go back to lvl100 (lvl150?) and thus be capped at 190 attack without excal.
-the strong age1 players relying on instant armies would have to change their playing style.
- the strong age1 players amassing loads of food would see tens of billions disappear for each stratagem.
- the strong age1 players would be unused to the strange age2 mechanics and send waves that should have worked in age1, but fail in age2.

It's not right to merge age1 and age2 as they are two different games. It's like merging Age of Empires with World of Warcraft!
HMM some good points here, but.

1.most attacks done in age one are not done with the big massive heros you see on the forums, usually around lvl 100-150 or so, so thats not much of a change

2.i dont really feel most age 1 players RELY on instant troops (there are a few players that have instant pults, and only 1 city, those are the only ones who rely on those heros), its not our fault evony didnt plan on attack getting high enough to get instant troops.

3. maybe we would lose food to stragamems but, with the upkeep and buffs.........how would that affect anyone? age2 players seem to do fine, how would a age1 player be affected worse than a age2 player more so?

4. i have played age2 b4 and the only big difference i could tell in attacking, is the ledership, as long as your hero is lvl 100+ it is basically the same............now some age1 players, not knowing how leadership affects attacking, would quickly find that a lvl 75 or less isnt much good for anything, but just a few mins of asking around and they with find the answer to that minor problem.

Ok i have played age1 and age2, although i have been deep into age1 and not so deep into age2............i have soloed a 14 is the deepest i got.

From what i can tell:
If age1 merged into age2, this is what i see happening. Age2 players thinking since this is age2 and these are age1 players we should be able to destroy them. Age2 people starting to colonize the age1, but quickly realizing the age1 players are used to reinforcing in mins, and now having 30 mins to prep b4 any attack can be launched. Wont work out so good. On the flip side, age1 players arent used to having troops and resources levied from the people who own HC near them. Farming for age1 players wont be an issue.

If age2 merged into age1, this is what i see happening. Age1 players thinking this is there time to show the age2 players what real war is about. Age1 will start very hard and agresive towards the age2 players, and since age2 is used to 30 of cooldown b4 any attacks can be made, age2 players will be caught off guard for the first few times this happens. Also they are used to the 8 hr supression battles, rather than getting their city taken. Farming for age2 will take a little bit to get used to b/c they arent used to not having 50% upkeep buff and the much higher upkeep to start with.

Now to sum up what i think would happen: The hurtles for the age1 players are much lower and farther apart than the hurtles for the age2 players, there is no way to know what would happen but that is just a plain and simple fact.
