Default Apple iPod Touch Firmware Update to IOS 4.1

OK, so today I updated my iPod Touch 3rd Generation to IOS 4.1 firmware. So I allowed it to update (it took an hour-ish), and lo and behold, when I go to sync my music to it, it only does some of it. I quickly noticed a pattern: the music that I had rpped from CD's (legal music) is synced fine. The music that I downloaded using a YouTube converter, on the other hand isn't there. Not only is it refusing to sync my donloaded music to my iPOd, but whenever I try to play it through iTunes, this message appears:

The album art, song names, and everything else is ther, but apparently it is lost in my computer/ deleted, never to be found again. Trust me, I've looked.

So now, I have no music, because of this software update.

On top of that, my iPod refuses to connect to my home WiFi network. I know this isn't just my network acting up though, because both my computer and my sister's iPod touch (which is running on iOS 3.1.2, the version I had before updating it), are working fine.

Tomorrow I am giving my iPod to a friend who will attempt to sync their music into my iPod. If that works, it will solve my music problem, but not the WiFi. I can get over the music, but the WiFi is really me off.

I have even tried reverting to an earlier version of firmware, by downloading it, but apparently it is incompatible even though it is an .ipsw file.

If I can't resolve this, I am phoning Apple. If they can't fix it for me, I'm jailbreaking it.

Does anyone know anything that may help me???????

I hate that itunes turns all the music into that proprietary format. I have a generic brand mp3 player, and I can't play any iTunes music on it. I can only play music I turned into mp3's from my CD collection. Is there any freeware for a mac that can change that stupid iTune format songs into ACTUAL mp3s?

Use a YouTube converter (video2mp3.net). It's what I was using up until this stupid software update stopped me from using files like this. The converter literally takes the URL of a YouTube video, and turns it into an MP3.

I usually download the video using Orbit downloader, and convert the flv to mp3 using Any Video Converter.

This way, if I lose the mp3 file, I still have the video file, and it only takes maybe a minute to convert it.

    Both programs are free

EDIT: Also, all the music in my iTunes are mp3... I don't know about any 'special format'...

Oh, the one I'm talking about is a website. You just paste in the URL. The only thing you downlaod is the song at the end.

    Where do I find this?

And I think I have a decent audio converter lying around somewhere.

My iTunes wants to turn everything into ".m4a"
... whatever that is. It doesn't play in any other player I have used.

To test this, just get a CD that doesn't have a song you already have in your iTunes.
Open the CD on your computer and just drag the track file into the itunes player's playlist.
It will auto-convert the file to this .m4a format when it saves the song to the iTunes library.
... At least my version of iTunes does this.

I have to use a crappy program on an ancient PC i have in the basement to make the CD song into mp3 format and save it to a thumbdrive. Then put it in the iTunes library. At least I must do that if I want it to be in the mp3 format.

All songs you download from itunes store are in AAC. I do not think it is possible to get AAC songs into MP3. I have looked before but could not find an audio converter that worked with them.

I'll test out my audio converter tomorrow and give the link if it's good.

And m4a is yet another audio filetype.
